Bith costume

Ozz is completely right about Ebay. I don't know how many times I've seen sellers say "this item is accepted by the Rebel Legion/501st Legion!" and it looks like crap and would never be accepted. Recently I saw a Rebel fleet trooper helmet on Ebay that some seller is producing and says that they're acceptable in the Rebel Legion, but it's completely the wrong shape, details are too large, and it just doesn't look right at all and would never be accepted in the Rebel Legion. People can say whatever they want to on Ebay, but that doesn't make it true.

It's always best to go onto one of the forums (Rebel Legions or one of the divisions in the 501st, depending on the costume) and ask if you have any questions before you buy anything. I'm a pilot costume judge in the Rebel Legion and I can't count how many times I've had to tell someone that their chestbox or helmet or something wasn't acceptable. They went and bought a terrible chestbox/helmet/whatever from some seller and never posted on the forum to see if it would pass. If they would have, it would have saved them time, effort and a lot of money. So always ask questions-- the more questions you ask the better off you will be! Also, posting a progress thread on the forums is a good idea so if there is some sort of change that needs to be made, you can make it before you finish your costume and it may save you time and money.

Another option is to ask someone in your local Rebel Legion/501st base. There might be someone who can sew your outfits for you or at least point you to someone who could, or someone who would have some good advice.

As for the musician jacket... Honestly, I don't know. I'm not extremely familiar with that costume-- I've seen it but I've never really studied it very much. I'd ask in the Rebel Supporters section of the Rebel Legion forum and you should be able to get all of the information you need. You might be able to ask somewhere in the 501st, but I'm not sure if the Bith musician costume is accepted in the 501st or not. I know Tusken Raiders are but I'm not sure about that one...

Regarding the Jedi/Sith stuff... Again, ask on one of the forums. It's hard to say whether or not a Sith outfit could become acceptable with a simple swap of material, it depends on what the Sith costume looks like. Some Sith costumes I've seen just look like a black Jedi outfit, others look completely different from a standard Jedi outfit. I do know that for a generic Jedi you need pants, tunic, under tunic (which could be a dickie that looks like a tunic), obi, tabards, belt, boots, lightsaber, belt pouches, food capsules, and I can't remember what else off the top of my head. Robes are optional.

Bith musician boots are I think are just jack boots, if I remember right. I can't swear to that, though. As for where to get jack boots... I'm not entirely sure. I've been trying to find some myself but I have yet to find any in my size. You might be able to get away with Funtasma boots (I think they're Captain-100, or something like that)... But I don't know for certain...

One thing to keep in mind about when doing your shopping, if you're looking to do a generic Jedi, too, is that for a Jedi costume the boots must match the belt-- they don't have to match exactly, but need to be within the same color scheme. In other words, you can't have black boots and a brown belt, or vice-versa. You can have a dark brown belt with medium brown boots, or black boots with a black belt.

General Sith "jedi" are not accepted in the 501st.

As for a Magma trooper, before a year ago, there were only 8 sets of armor ever produced. About a year ago, ATF armor produced about 30-40 more suits, and had a open order on the 501st site. I know for sure because I bought one. :) I am not sure if they had any extras, but I wouldn't count on it. As for painting a set to be Magma... Well, I can't say I have ever seen it done before, or that I would think it were a good idea. And not sure how good it would look. If it were me, I'd just go white. You can get into more troops with the plain white armor. Weird Al is one of them.

As for General Weir, I would check the 501st costume reference guide here: 501st Legion: Vader's Fist .
Most of your questions could be answered there. And yes, it does look as though it is Shadow Biker armor. And I would not concider it an "easy" build. Between the belt, and how to position the armor properly, it isn't that easy. Though you will have more movement in the suit, than if you were enclosed in armor.
Any other questions, you should go to this link.
501st Legion: Vader's Fist

Flagship Eclipse 501st Legion: Vader's Fist is where you will find most of the Sith Jedi costumes that are approved. Though the Arica one is a little... uh, yah.
Most costumes don't have reference pics up yet.

Boots. I bought mine from a outlet store here called Bass for my TX, but the Scout boots are different, find the pathfinders detachment for more info. Easiest way to find any of those links is the 501st Legion: Vader's Fist site, click on the preffered detachment, when the list comes up, click on the red link, and it will automatically bring up the site link home page.

Gotcha. Still waiting on the approval email from rebel legion so I can go on there forum. Is the 501st special ops forum account I have only good for that detachment. Or could I view and post on the basic storm trooper forum, sith forum, etc. yea I saw on the special ops magma trooper forum that someone had made sets for sale. Back in like 2012 though.... That person I found with the link a few posts up with a TK number has regular and sand trooper kits. And you have like 4 options. Untrimmed everything up to everything trimmed and straps/Velcro attatched including jumpsuit and neck pad. Everything you need and the armor ready to go except a little adjusting to your size. Only thing you need to buy are boots and a blaster. Price varies quite a bit. I think it's like $700ish for everything untrimmed and the option with everything ready to go under suit etc is like $2500. Like I've said about never doing cosplay or painting before etc the most complete ready to go with everything you need for the most part was most appealing. But that is a big jump. And the options in between have stages like all the items trimmed but you put together and get the other needed items and the helmet at different stages of completion. What I'm trying to get at is, is someone in my shoes better off getting the most complete or something in the middle or what? If you check that website he had the options listed and how they come or I have an email that's a bit more clear. And if white storm troopers are the most kits to be found and one instance of a magma how do people make the black outfits or red ones at the moment? Maybe that answer would be over my head. That's still the only person and or site I've found with a kit if anyone knows anyone else let me know. Any color and trooper type. Or even a general weir build. Also provided email if open post isn't something you'd want to do. Thanks yet again.

And for meeting a fellow cosplayer or better yet legion member of either would be awesome and I've sent emails on both legions to members I've found near by and attachment leaders asking if they can steer me in how to find people or know anyone. If I found someone I'd get the basic kit and ask to have them help and pay them or return the favor whatever they prefer. For now you guys on the form are helpful though. Wish I had the falcon to meet up with you guys and discuss in person or work together but these posts help.

I got it and emailed back no problem. For some reason my iPhone wasn't dropping down for sentences like regular so the lines of words are a bit longer but hopefully that won't happen next time. Does that trooperbay guy sell armor kits or just the rest of the items you need as well as tools and supplies?

That's weird that your Rebel Legion forum confirmation isn't showing up. It should appear almost immediately as far as I know. Did you check your spam box and everything? You might be able to resend the confirmation by logging into your RL forum account, and there might be some option there to resend the confirmation E-mail. If not, try contacting a tech support person (Rebel Legion :: View Forum - Legion Tech Support), they could probably get it fixed up. If you can't send messages out, I can pass a messages onto someone, too.

Just checked my emails spam. Retried to login and tried forgot password just to see and even that says I'm still inactive. I was talking to someone but haven't heard back. If you could pass it along that would be great. Since the bith will be my first costume I'd like to be able to post on the forums and check it out soon. It's the same username I have here and same email I posted. If you need any other info let me know.

Is it possible to reply or make a new topic on the rebel legion forum? Each time I've tried it won't allow. I'm not with the legion but have an account

You should be able to post pretty much anywhere, except possibly the section to buy and sell items, which I think is restricted to costumed members or those who get permission. I think. Where are you trying to post?

Hmm... That is weird... I let one of the admins know. You could try sending a PM to Gius Maximus and see if he knows what's going on. I'm thinking that because you didn't click the link to activate your account and it was done by an admin that maybe the system isn't registering that your account is fully activated or something. I have no idea to be honest, but that's all I can come up with. But Gius Maximus or another admin should be able to figure it out.

No, I don't know his E-mail, sorry.

But you tried posting in the main section, right? Not one of the sub-forums like "Han Solo and Other Smugglers" or "Docking Bay 94"? You should be able to post in the main section, but I'm not sure if you can post in the sub-forums without being a costumed member, and you definitely can't post in the detachments (i.e. Docking Bay 94) without costumed membership.

Though if you were posting about your Bith stuff, you would probably be better off in the Rebel Supporters section, anyway. That's where the alien stuff usually goes.
