Bith costume

Hey I just messaged woodman for mask and glove information. What about the outfit anyone have specific sites or stores to get these items? I'm talking about the musician outfit. Thanks. And I just made this account so not sure if you get emails when people reply to posts but I will check back either way.

Mate Woodman is an expert costume maker aswell. Message him again and he can do the whole thing for you!

Thanks man. He hasn't replied yet but hopefully sooner than later. I know the musician is the most popular bith but I'm reading darth plagueis and there's a bith sith so I'm sure there's bith Jedi as well. You think the general Jedi and sith costumes would work for a bith version as well for the 501st and rebel legion?

There are Bith Jedi in various Star Wars comics, though I think most of them are unnamed. You can do a generic Bith Jedi for the Rebel Legion. So long as the parts met the requirements there should be no problem getting it accepted.
As for Sith Bith... I believe you're referring to Darth Tenebrous, Plagueis' master? I don't think that's currently accepted in the 501st, but I'm not entirely sure. You could try asking on the Flagship Eclipse forum and someone there should be able to tell you. But you couldn't do a generic Sith Bith costume for the 501st.

Ok thanks. Yea darth tenebrous is him. Then Plagueis trains Palpatine. Sounds good, so I can have a musician and Jedi for rebels and maybe darth tenebrous If accepted. Would you happen to know of any other bith dark side characters incase they don't accept it? Also anyone know how to direct message someone on here? I replied to Woodmans post about his Greedo mask but to no avail yet. That's the only person I've found googling online for a bith mask and hand set. Thanks for the responses people.

Honestly, unless you have 3 different examples/pics of any costume, the 501st won't accept it. Even then it's hard to do sometimes. Just book referances won't do. It has to be visual from different sources.

Like Blue Leader said: Goto Flagship Eclipse. If anyone knows, it's them.

I see. Yea the only reference I've seen is the book and for pictures just things on google but I don't think anything official. I'll ask them once I actually get the bith mask just to see. Can't go wrong with a stormtrooper, that would always be a fall back for the 501st. But musician bith and a Jedi knight should be solid then for rebel legion? I know I keep mentioning this as well but I need like help big time trying to contact woodman or find someone or a website that sells a bith mask and gloves. I can't even find cheap low level stuff. Not that I'd want it but just shows how scare the bith is. If I knew someone who could make it I'd be more than happy to help and pay for material but I don't know anyone either. I posted on the wanted section on here as well.

I think you need to make a number of posts before that stuff is unlocked mate. After its unlocked you will find all your answers with a search or in the Junkyard.

Ok I was seeing you had to make posts to unlock things. Guess this is a start. Besides the mask and glove part. Anyone know a good site or person who makes sith or Jedi wardrobe?

I believe it's 50 posts to "unlock" the xtras.

You can never go wrong with a clean white TK (Stormtrooper).

As soon as you get into the 501st, look at this thread for the Jedi robes. : http://www.501st.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=71065 330/50 for full robes.

Not sure who makes them in non 501st. Join the RL (Rebel Legion) boards as a guest and see who can do it there.

50 posts wow lol. But thanks I'll check that out. Anyone know why the rebel legion allows anyone to make a Jedi costume of any race as long as the costume looks movie accurate. But 501st only allows actually people we've seen; examples being darth vader, maul, sidious. I know during the prequels there's the whole jedi consul but in the books you hear of a time when the sith were numerous and both parties take any race as children that are high in the force to train. So they both do have force sensitives of all races. Just a thought.

And yea I'll prob have to stick with a bith musician and possible knight for the rebels and so a stormtrooper for the legion. I found a guy tk1336 who's a member and makes them with a website of the same name. I think it would be cool to be a little different and go magma trooper but I'm not sure what's the proper paint and motions to take to get white armor red. I'm pretty sure your basic red spray or can paint isn't the best idea. But thanks again for all the replies people I just like talking about Star Wars in general. To take my question even longer lol. Anyone know how to meet members of either legions who live around you? I'm currently in New Orleans if that helps.

For the Rebel Legion, you can make a Jedi of pretty much any canon species (unless the species can't be Force-sensitive) so long as the species has enough references. I mention this just because some Star Wars species are mentioned in books but have no picture references. You should have no problem getting a Bith Jedi accepted-- I believe there already is one or two Bith Jedi in the Rebel Legion, if I remember correctly, and there's also one or two Nikto, and I'm working on an Anomid Jedi. It would just have to meet the requirements for both Jedi and alien parts. The musician you definitely wont have any problems with as long as it meets the requirements.

As for where to buy robes and what-not, I'm not sure off the top of my head where you can buy them but I know there are places that sell them. Avoid Master Replicas (I think it's Master Replicas, anyway) that allows you to buy various mass-produced pieces because they aren't accurate and acceptable, last I heard. You'd be better off commissioning someone to make them for you... The pieces would be more accurate, presuming you went with someone who knows what they're doing, and it would probably be cheaper, and you could get exactly what you wanted.

Of course, you could also make the obi, robe, tunic and so on yourself. Simplicity sells a Jedi pattern that can be used with a few small modifications (mainly shoulder tucks and darts on the back, which the Simplicity pattern doesn't have). The Simplicity tabard pattern is terrible but it can be used as a guideline; you'd just make the tabards longer and wouldn't attach them together. But the tabards are pretty easy, anyway, so you might not even need a pattern for them. I used a kataginu pattern for my tabards. My tunic is from the Simplicity pattern and I modified it for accuracy, and my obi is a custom piece but I used the Simplicity pattern as a basic guide.

Thankfully, Jedi outfits aren't all that hard to put together.... The Jedi has been much easier than my B-wing pilot. :p

And as for Woodman... If he's the guy I'm thinking of (I'd have to look and make sure, but I think that's the guy) he seems to have disappeared off the face of the Earth. A number of people have been trying to contact him but haven't had any luck, which is a shame because he did some amazing work.

Nice post. I actually got a reply from woodman on a private message and he said his molds were shot until he re made them this summer. Found 2 people in other countries & continents for the bith mask and glove set as well. So I'm pretty sure I got that part covered. Sigh of relief*. Nice info on the robes but I'm honestly just a total noob when it comes to using materials to make coustume clothing and or masks type items. I've never cosplayed before but Star Wars is my favorite genre so I thought of it to be the best to start. That's why I hoping I could find members near me in the 501st, rebel, or just fellow cosplayers to talk with and hopefully meet. For now though I found on ebay if you type sith costume an item comes up that looks legit and the persons says they have made plenty for the 501st. Everything but the boots I believe. But since the 501st won't accept general Sith Lords or darth tenerbous maybe that person can do a Jedi version. Same thing but different colors I'm assuming? Also for meeting people I've emailed multiple members of both legions as well as finding members near by through profiles but no replies yet. You guys replying are cool though thanks for all the help. Can't wait until I can post a costume and perhaps be accepted on either or both legions. They just had mardi gra here and I saw some members had a float and were hanging out. If only I had a costume already lol. I'm getting it done this year though and hold me to it. Also can some look up http://www.tk1336.com/fx.html and tell me how legit you find it? I've been conversating in emails and he seems legit. Website seems legit. But I have yet to have someone from 501st tell me he's legit. Thanks again.

Maybe it's only 20 (rather than 50) since I only have 40 posts right now....

While you still need to look at the requrements, Google "Jedi Robe Pattern". And you can find some things to help.
Also, Check out this link: http://www.therpf.com/f79/jedi-robes-pattern-145356/
It might give you some helpful info.

As for TK 1136, go to 501st.com and enter the TK #. If he's still in the system, he's 501st. Though it still won't say how "legit" he is. I found that site when I first started out. I used his patterns to make a couple of my weapons, but other than that, you really need to get your foot in the door into one of the clubs for any real help. So many people say that they want to join, and then dissapear as soon as they find out how much everything costs. lol. I am assuming that is why there is such lack of willing people in the 501st to help. I know it was for me, and see that it still continues that I am 501st.

As for the 501st accepting costumes, a basic rule is: Strictly Darkside. Nothing else. If it was in the movies, auto acceptance. TV shows/cartoons (Clone Wars, holliday special), (Basically if it had a 360 scene showing the charachter), Auto. Comics....As long as there are a minimum of 3 references, not just a quick mention. Games... Mostly accepted, BUT, if the charachter can be "customized" to have different "looks" in the game, it won't be accepted. Action figures, NO. (Their stance is that Hasbro just releases these figures to make money, so no). Books... Well, as far as I know, only the "Zombie Stormtroopers" have been accepted with out a real picture reference. (IMO, probably the dumbest acceptable costume the 501st let slip by.) Look at the reference guide for full list. And above all, it HAS to look like you just stepped off of the movie screen. If there is a rivet, you need it in the same spot. No more, no less.
While they are "picky" about costumes, they do set themselves apart from just wearing generic armor, and looks alot "classier" than just a thrown together suit club. :)

I'll give that link a look here in a minute. Is it just me or does the bith musician jacket look like a chef jacket? The requirements say it needs the upper collared neck and buttons match the jacket color and that's it. It doesn't seem to be a custom jacket but maybe I'm wrong. And long black boots like that im not sure where to look but I know quite a few star wars characters use them so maybe a generic search on google will show? And those grey pants they just mention as pants. Now I don't think jeans would work but what material are those would you say? Like slacks? I guess I'll have to email Disney now to get darth tenerbous in a scene and I can be a bith sith then. But I think the musician/Jedi would be a good start in the legion and a storm trooper for the 501st. I know due to copyright guidelines the 501st doesn't openly tell people who and how to contact armor makers but that link I posted was the only person I found so far. And I've emailed a couple different 501st members and made posts on their forums. Just that link so far though. And his tk number checks out but the contact info is private. Also I'll emailed a few 501st ranking members that I thought would be the ones to ask. And showed them the link and tk number but no answer yet.

501st members are not really allowed to sell to outsiders, so don't be suprised if you don't get an answer, or no reply. I'm 501st and my info is private as well. With that said, here are A few suggestions for you:

First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment

For Clone armor go to: http://www.clonetroopers.net or ImperialSurplus.com But keep in mind, it's more expensive to build a clone than a Stormtrooper. But they are way cooler! ;)

If you go on evilbay, beware! make sure you ask questions about approval before you commit to buying any armor on there. Just because it says: "501st approved" doesn't mean it is. Get in touch with your local Garrison or squad, and they are usually willing and able to help you. They will get a bit touchy when asked where to buy stuff since it is illegal to profit from stuff like this in the states. Across the pond in the UK however, legal. But still watch out.

And by all means, stay away from Rubies!! While it is possible to get it approved, it takes ALOT more work than needed to get it to pass for approval.

If you need any help, I will do what I can for you, but just try what I suggested and you'll do just fine. Like I said: Not everyone is willing to help. So take it when you can. It's what frustrates most people trying to join, and is why some get so upset with the process. I don't "support" any of the armor makers, but can give my honest opinion if you want it. Just not on the boards. ;)

Yes I've heard ebay and rubies aren't good options. My emails pimpmastrdom@aol.com. Honest opinions and more open talk would be greatly appreciated. To anyone who comes across this thread. I know my questions have moved around instead of creating a new thread. But as of now I have an account in the specials ops for 501st cause I always thought magma trooper or general weir would be cool. So trooper armor info I'm sure is revealant across the broad. Also have a white armor account and rebel legion is awaiting a confirmation email. The bith outfit pieces I could use help on where or who to get them from, perhaps an instrument builder as well? And the stormtrooper regular or pre made red would be appreciated for a builders info to purchase from. I provided my email above. General weir I haven't talked about with people yet but he seems to have less armor than a storm trooper so is that nessiscarly an easier build? He seems to have more pieces suited just for him like the bandolier. And I heard a shadow scout armor set is the basis with some tweaks added? Sound true? Last as with the storm trooper set if anyone knows a builder with contract info for Jedi and or sith robe and tunic set. And just to make this longer lol how about boots? Long ones for the musician and storm trooper type. I've seen caboots for stormtrooper and you can order in red or black. But heard some negative reviews. And then the normal boots any person and or website you could refer. Thanks again
