Bioshock Infinite: Project Songbird

Hey there folks

I thought I'd introduce myself first,
My name is Lorenz, I'm a hobby prop/costume builder from Graz, Austria.
Until now I've got a finished MKVII Master Chief Suit from Halo 4 and 2-3 deadmau5 helmets done.
I'm also a member of the 405th where you can see my building thread (hopefully since they're having problems with the page :/ )
At the moment I'm trying to build a full wearable 2.30m~ tall Songbird costume from Bioshock Infinite.
Here is my rough start from today.
I've planned this long time and how to build each part of the costume so don't think this is just into the blue

I know I shouldn't advertise here but I'm not that often at home so I'm most of the time on facebook via cellphone and this is why I've got myself an own page for my work that I will update on a regular basis.

I'm sorry to update just now but I've been busy working and only updated my facebook page (which is the place you should visit if you want updates on a regular basis)
So I've started a new hard-shell because I wasn't satisfied with the old one and this is the progress I've made.

Being completely unversed as I said, and only knowing that BS: Infinite is completely different then BS: 1 and 2, I didn't want to look at the wrong character if the name was used in all Bioshocks but different looking models were used.

No it doesn't. Your question is what's frustrating. "What the heck is a songbird?" is dismissive, it's not a helpful or constructive comment, it doesn't even show basic praise like a lot of short responses on here. You show possible interest in a build thread only to share that you don't know what he's building, but can't be bothered to research it? Well, what, you don't want to spoil the story, so what can anyone tell you about the character other than how it relates to other characters you don't know? But you don't want to hear that

You want to know what it's gonna look like when it's done, whether it's cool. You want someone to say, "it's a giant steampunk mechanical bird. It looks badass." Something a google image search can tell you in far less time and with far more depth. Without using up the forum member's time.

Imagine you're working on a great project and started a build thread on something you're excited about. Heck, imagine you just subscribed to a thread like that because you want to eagerly watch on as the project nears completion. You get a notification that the thread has a new response. Is it a picture update? Does the builder need help and advice? Is someone who made the original prop sharing tricks on how he got it to look a certain way? Is it new resource photos that have been released, or pictures taken at a con? Is someone else appreciating the same things you love and appreciate? How has the story advanced?

Oh. It's just a comment saying "what the heck is a songbird?"
He could have googled that.

I'm using 5cm thick "Bachl Extruded Polystyrene Foam" provided by our local hardware store called "baumaxx"

So here are my first tests with the PU-foam, I've only had 1 can at home and I won't be able to work until Monday but here's some quick pics.

Lookin' good so far, If I may ask how do you intend to recreate all the leather work of Songbird?

With leather Or if that's too expensive/heavy I'll go with synthetic leather
