Re: Bioshock big daddy costume

Thanks guys for the feedback

The master mold for the portholes was ready for molding. I used rebound 25 and encased in a poster board box sealed with hot glue and clay

ujy8udev.jpg

I used smooth cast 65d for castings just some plastic i had laying around
a5azupeq.jpg

And it came out pretty good
sysemaha.jpg

The only problem is i ran out of smooth cast and have no time to get more so i only got 5 casting out of smooth cast 65d but i heard you can use fiber glass resin so i gave that a test
yzu7yqu9.jpg

mebemaqe.jpg

And it works! But i ran out of hardener which i have to get some tomorrow

Now its time to start on the arm extension. I didnt want that stubby arm and i didnt really have a clue on how to make one other than volpins so im kinda winging it. For the arm and elbow i used 4inch pvc pipe and some Chicago screws
jevemube.jpg

gusumutu.jpg

Adding a handle to bend the arm
seta5equ.jpg

Now for the hand like volpin i used mdf for the palm and pvc pipe for the fingers
amesuza9.jpg

qebaju3e.jpg

Did a arm test with the torso

I think it looks badass

Re: Bioshock big daddy costume

Just a small update ive been mostly working on the strapping system for three days and trying to make it fit my client as he is bigger than me.
So not much pictures of this progress but i fiber glass cloth the inside to strengthen it and made a frame out of pvc pipe and got an old back straps from an old leave blower then fiber glassed in to place
uzazazap.jpg

Then i added some more detail to the dome using 2 inch couplers i was going to put fans there but i think im gonna use them so you can see through them to walk
uqudu4uv.jpg

And then i glues some casted bolts to the main form and everything eles
za2ydeje.jpg

Re: Bioshock big daddy costume

Duuude, that's turning out wicked sick, awesome job :thumbsup

Ohhhh yeehhh, who's the daddy :)

Man that turned out great, you got skills brah, thats for sure :thumbsup

Oh, and a quick FYI. I found a wicked bioshock soundboard in the android play store for free. There's loads of high quality recordings of big daddy moans and groans for his different moods, and a bunch of other stuff. Could maybe get a portable speaker or some such to put in there for some authentic sounds ;)

And i wish i could add sounds to it but im already shipping out the costume to the client. Hard to let go

Ah well, could maybe pass it on to him, he might appreciate the tip. And yeh, letting your "one off" creations go can definitely be hard sometimes.
