Bioshock big daddy costume FINISHED PG.2

This costume at first was just for fun and just for my collection. But then i got a commission order for this costume and the deadline is fir halloween. This build is entirely inspired by volpins or harrison krixs big daddy costume hes a talented fella. So anyway here we go

the first step i did was to make sort of a scaling frame skeleton? thing. it was made out of insulation foam board and card board, using volpins blueprints of cores










the next step was to spray expanding foam in those empty cavities. there was alot! of expanding foam, so much im still needing some more. but until then ill show you what i have so far





i finally got some more expanding foam to do the other side

the left side needed some more filling

the right side needs some more filling


i found a scary surgeon knife in my shed, who knew its good for carving foam

i know what you mean i have about 4 other projects but the big daddy is my most priority

hey guys back with an update. since the suit needs alot of expanding foam i ran out of about 11 bottles of it, so in the mean time in be working on the knee pads arm rings things. heres my progress

i started cutting out volpins plans


then i started cutting the peices



i had to glue some pieces so i used my skyrim mold to add weight


thats all i did tonight i was super busy today. so tomorrow i will do alot of work on it and ill update soon

when all the pieces were dried i started sanding. i used my belt sander to make each piece even


then i glued some pieces together. these are the knee pads


then i started making the piece that goes on the arm it took some trial and error but i got one done



i also started working on the side packs that big daddy wears on his belt







i sanded down the eges to give them i nit so new look to it


these are all the pieces ive made i will need to make more but i ran out of foam board and im going in vation in less in a week so ill update soon after that

hey guys sorry its been a while, ive been in florida enjoying my vacation so now im back and heres what ive got done since i got back

i got some more expanding foam for the body


when i came back the next day and the foam pushed of the legs piece


i just glued the piece back in


so after that mess i started working on the shoes using insulation foam board


alot of carving

Looks great so far, just be careful you son't make the soles of the boots too round, you still want some traction and support!

Hey im back well since this big daddy is now a commission order i know have to work on full time deadline is halloween so heres the progress ive gotten


I added more foam to carve out the main body

After the main body was sculpted i covered the whole body with some stretch fabric

Then i added some accents on the legs, arms , and the top of the form

Then i coated the accents with ureshell then the whole form with fiberglass resin

Then the seem lines of the fabric was covered in spackle

more progress today. With the lack of pictures (sorry about that)


Added some detail with some foam tape ir weather strip foam and added the front flap out of foam board also with foam tape

Also coated in resin

Now that the resin has hardin i started hollowing out this sucker

Still needs a little hollowing and then i can add more detail

For the dome I found a 20 inch acrylic globe on amazon then i cut it in half the added the ring out of foam

Then i started working on the portholes. Since i dont want to make 8 portholes and it being a weight problem i started making the master mold. i started with pvc pipe, styrene and some mdf

And i thought id work on the drill as well
I started with some poster board with a rod in the middle

Then glued some insulation foam and expanding foam

Then covered in cardstock and the blade also made in cardstock

Then added some masking tape to the blade

Then coated in resin

I coated the drill about 3 coats to make it more rigid and it seems to be durable

And then i started on the base which is made out of concrete tube and some detail with foam tape and some foam board glued in side

Then i heated some conductive pvc and some Couplers

Then coated in resin with sawdust and other particles mixed to add texture

To make the drill move i end up using a cheapo 12v drill i found for 20$ but i needed to mod it a little so i open it up and i cut the handle out and added more wire on the trigger and the battery clip

And then i enclosed it in 4" pvc pipe and added a strap thingy to strap my arm on

Its not as comfortable as i want so im gonna make the arm strap longer and add a handle and glue the trigger to make it easier to use and more comfortable
But other than that the drill is down time for a mock up
