Bigturc's War machine helmet (3D printed)

Would you mind sharing what color codes the colors you use have? I'm going to build a warmachine as well and the biggest problem I will face is, I think, getting the right colors. Yours look really nice.

I've been following your screen accurate IM hips and bolts, and have just finished going through this thread as well, and your WM helmet is the best one I've seen thus far. The paintwork, glueing and puttying, use of magnets and overall attention to detail is awesome. Thank you very much for posting these WIP threads in such detail, I've only just started in IM prop making and it's so helpful finding people like yourself! I'll subscribe to every thread you start just to see what else you can do :lol

Thanks for the compliment! This helmet was a joke to build due to the amazing talent of the makers!

Now, you'll probably see for yourself huh?! :)

I was thinking of sculpting my own helmets, but after seeing some of them are in the junkyard, and how good they are, I'm now weighing up whether it's worth it when I can buy a nice one ready made. we'll see :)

You know, at this point in time, I don't see why anybody wouldn't buy one already done by one of the sculptor!

There's helmets for all price ranges out there, going from around 120$ shipped to about 400$ depending on what accuracy you want.

Helmets from the original files are way up there, but then again, there's some really good sculpts by fans too!

Hi Mark,
Have you read the thread of just looked at the pictures? ;)

Hint: search for "DupliColor"!

Funny, I did a search and the closest I got was

"Colors are DupliColor and red details are done with acrylic paint"

Unfortunately, DupliColor is a brand, not a specific color. There was mention of a Charcoal and stainless steel, but I'd like to see some clarification please! :D

Wow not a long thread quick skim and there it is. Nothing like a little work to find what you need. lol :lol

Pledge with future floor wax huh! Best sealer i know so far, it can be used as clear coat too, good stuff, thatnks for sharing your methods, they will come in handy :)

No its ok, i just said that because i use it on my other hobby, that is scale cars, i havent used it on props, but its a great sealer

Hi Mark,

Haha, I did read it, but I missed the codes.
Searching those codes on the duipli color website does not give me any hits though, but at least I can contact them and ask for the paint with that code, maybe they can even give me some RAL colorcodes because I don't think they sell in the Netherlands (found some resellers though).

Painted! Really happy with how the color came out .. although a little reflective to my taste compared to screen caps (which are all CGI I think) but I'll do some flat clear coat later (Paint pros : I think that'll work right?!?)

DupliColor Silver Met 047-2567-0
DupliColor Steel Grey Met 047-2672-8

Do you have any more info about the color codes? I got a big DupliColor book and there's nothing with this info in there. The numbers you have are way longer than the codes in the book.

Thanks!

What about these:

DupliColor Silver Met (12 WA8535) CBGM0340
DupliColor Steel Grey Met (K50) CBNS0603

That's it, the 2nd set of those numbers. WA8535 and K50. Might wanna update your post on page 2 with that info in case anyone else tries to search for it. Thanks again. =)

Just wanted to post more info about the paint codes, I ordered these directly through Napa but here are the codes from the book:

"Silver M" metallic
GM / Chevrolet / Buick / Cadillac / Oldsmobile / Pontiac
Color code: 12
WA Part #: 8535
5oz Auto Spray: DSGM340
8oz Perfect Match: BGM0340

"Steel Gray M" metallic
Nissan
Color code: K50
5oz Auto Spray: (no longer sold)
8oz Perfect Match: BNS0603

The "perfect match" is the spray cans, the "auto spray" is what you'd use in a professional paint system which I'm sure 90% of people won't need.

I can post scans of the pages too if anybody wants them.
