Thanks Matt!
Yeah, a lot of love!!! Good thing I had those parts sent to me, since I already had nightmares about trying to get my pep files as sharp and clean as yours!!! A long time since we got any updates on your build though .. ;)

:thumbsup
Should have a big update next week sometime, opps the cat is out of the bag :lol

That's what I wanna hear bud!

Also, tomorrow is my last vacation day, so it's gonna go a little slower now .. sad sad sad!

Hey guys,
Anyone knows what's the best way to glue urethane rubber to itself? I tried CA glue but really, it wasn't a perfect bond. This is to be able to close my rubber neck with magnets.

Cheers,
Al

Thanks Kev,
Unless someone comes up with another solution, what I plan to do is take the extra rubber material I cut on my neck, cut tabs in it and seal it on one side of the slot I did behind the neck, then glue magnets to both the tabs and the other side of the neck.

Another question, could I also use Aquaseal to glue the magnet to the urethane rubber or should I use something else? Maybe 2 parts epoxy would work better for this application?

I think so looks like the same stuff I have here for fixing seals only mine is in a big container and the cap is a brush.

Well worth a try Al, give it test though first, while it may fix the rubber it may struggle to really grip those magnets?. You need something with a high grip value like the products Kev's mentioned or something along the lines of a super glue.

One idea I've just thought of is to make a slice in the rubber, bury the magnet within a 'flap' in the rubber and seal that magnet back inside maybe by using the rubber glue mentioned above, so you'll get the pull from the megnet but the rubber will be sealed around it. Hope that makes sense?

I've got one of these same necks comng very soon so what ever route I take, I'll of course share :)

Steve,
The rubber is not thick enough to slice through it and "insert" the magnet. So I still need to figure out something. Perhaps 2-part epoxy could work. I haven't bought Aquaseal yet, but got some Viktor Rubber cement. Didn't really work that well on my test piece! :)

This suit is all about the details and the level of accuracy you put into it. As some of you might know, I'm in the game industry, and knowing ppl who know ppl is always a good thing! :)

I have had access to these parts and have cast them to have the best parts out there. I'm super happy with the result .. I will be able to offer these to interested party, check my junkyard thread :

Lovely looking pieces there bigturc. I was going to get these 3d printed too as try as I might I could not get a decent enough looking chest bolt with my current skill set.
I have registered interest in your JY thread.

bamboo, that chest bolt IS really square'ish .. it's in the original suit so I left it as is as I don't wanna mess with it. The rest of the bolts are beautiful, round and high polys.

Trust me, you're much better getting a cast set, the master prints for these cost me an arm and a leg! NOW I understand the high price of cast from 3d prints!

Not really an update, but just the state of things! Haven't had no time at all for about 4 weeks to work on it. Just done my run of bolts and pods and real life in general!!!
