Bigturc's Ironman Mark3 Build

Yeah! that's the one I was looking for; I found it on darkside501st...thanks bro, nice work by the way, I am going to start posting my work tomorrow since I got laid off from work I'll be able to work on it on the meantime...

Small update.

I'm currently working out the chest/back pieces. First I built the tab system on the side to use the shape of the fiberglass to put magnets in there, but since it's a really wavy region, due to the ribs details in the front, it came out wavy and it's hard to fit on .. so I'm scratching that idea, filling the wavy region to a nice planed area and then, I'm redoing flat tabs on each side. I wanna have something like 1 1/2" in there to put 2 or 3 big magnets on each tabs, meaning, 4-6 on each side. This thing will snap in place!!!

Next is the smoothing of the parts. I think I'm gonna stop smoothing everything to get a perfect finish. No one will notice anyway and it's kinda useless if I get burnt anyway! It's still gonna be "silky smooth" though! :) Just not in every nooks and corners.

Less and less to do on these! :thumbsup

Also decided to do some color testing 2 days ago .. on a 1 piece GeminiKhan helmet. Really nice helmet, cheap too to get!

Duplicolor Barcelona Red

Really nice color if you ask me .. really close to the screen suit. Next, the black of the mouth and cheeks, then Sunburst gold on faceplate and bottom lip, and finally a clear coat to protect the paint before weathering. This helmet will then be for sale after I'm done with it!

This is going to be so awesome to see! I can't wait for the next pictures! You are so at the exciting part of the build!!!

I really like the colors of this test helmet .. and for now, I'll call it done!
I'll probably come back, strip the red and repaint it with Toreador Red to see what it looks like.

As a side note, it's really a pain to paint an helmet that is one piece!!! :behave

Kevin,
Yeah, I agree .. so many hues depending on the lighting type here!
Here's a couple more pics ..

And a small color montage from all the hues of the suit

Kevin is right, the red is a little too light. I think I prefer it to the red of the screen used suit though as it has a better hue/saturation match imo. Save yourself the trouble of repainting the red by writing Marvel a letter and explain to them that they need to change their colour scheme to match that of your own. :)

loll .. good call bamboodia! :)

I'm not sure I have the motivation and time to repaint this guy .. so I'll probably transform it into a damaged helmet .. some day! :)

Actually if you guys want to get technical about it there is 2 verisions of the Hero suit as well as the stunt suit all painted in different reds. ;)
Here are the 2 herro versions in reg lighting not studio lights.

Yes! Thanks for these pics Finhead!
I know this helmet's color looks a lot more like the suit on the right.

For my own personnal suit, I really dig that left version though .. much more representative of the movie IMO. And that's where I'm saying Toreador Red is much more spot on!

Ok, shoulder bell tabs are done so that they completely pivot one inside another. Apoxie Sculpt first, backed with fiberglass and finished with EpoxAmite and Evercoat.

Also began working the chest tabs. Once dry, I'll trim to what shape I want them to be. Then I'll finish them with Evercoat.
