Bigturc's Ironman Mark3 Build

Truly a masterful build here. Attention to detail is jaw dropping. Even going as far a s modelling your own files and buying the cutter. I'm hoping to be able to build something as detailed as this...maybe in a year or so. Or 'til someone gives funding for the job :) Hehehe... Can't wait for the finish suit! keep building!

Thanks Aki! :thumbsup

Gotta admit, I am really picky .. or should I say anal!! about the smallest detail! I actually had fun learning how to model and transfer everything to pep! It gives you freedom to build whatever you want after! ;)

Thanks Royal Dump! loll Much appreciated!

But really, there's so many good build threads around : Finhead, Surreal Studios, Zabana, Davy, Fingaz and I'm forgetting more for sure!!!

Well it looks like I'll be joining you on this very same Milled 3D route with the chest and shoulders and helmet after all, After picking up some new parts from fettster. I was fighting against scale and proportions too much before and of course over all accuracy was a problem for me so I bit the bullet and took the plunge, I'll be sharing how I intend to get that Chest and back seperated.

Brillaint thread Al, much to see and take in on here. All good stuff, and thanks for sharing.

My husband has accepted that my celebrity crushes are on two film characters instead of the famous people themselves, Tony Stark and Lori (Silk Spectre 2). He deals with it. :) I know the film-Tony is a lot nicer than the comic book version, and I think I'm glad for that, otherwise there'd be one crush.

And Tony has all those awesome toys! I'm a tech geek, and I sat there drooling and wishing that the technology in his lab was possible in the foreseeable future.

You've got the best build going that I've seen, which sets my fan-girl heart a-flutter. Hey, it's better than crushing on Edward or Jacob. That crud just makes me shudder.

Haha! Well, if I make you happy, all the better then! :)) The awesomeness is definitely in the future of this thread, that for sure!!! loll

Iron Patriot I would assume.

Makes sense, didn't even know what Iron Patriot was, had to look it up on the web!!! :thumbsup

So it's time to separate the torso piece. Here's what I plan to do:

Trapezoid trench improved with dremel cylinder and a popsicle stick which was 1cm large, pretty much the proper width of the trench!

Shot some primer for the pics! Will need some serious putty work in there!

Small before and after comp for the shoulder trench. This took me about 40 minutes of dremel. I think it pays off! ;)

I want the chest and back separated and on primer tomorrow night!

Shot some primer to see my progress on this .. more sanding tomorrow and will show the tabs after I separated the chest and back!

All the dangs and misalignment at the bottom will be gone when I'm done with this part. :thumbsup

the one file I have does not have the two squares by the heel, the one you have has more details in that part, is there two version of it?

There's only one version of it .. not sure what's the name of the file, but I know it's been modified by others to separate a la ROBO or to give height to the heel too.

Just took a screenshot of the back of his file for you ...
