Best Post Apocalyptic Movies/TV/Comics EVER

Mad Max, Mad Max 2 and aspects of Beyond Thunderdome. I liked The Postman, but wasn't impressed with Waterworld.

There is one I saw many moons ago that I have never seen anywhere again called The Day After. It's set in a middle American town, from memory, that gets hit by nuclear fallout and the affects it has on the lives of the people involved. Not exactly post-appocalyptic, but good non-the-less.

The Road with Viggo was ok, as was The Book of Eli. Stephen King's The Stand, don't even get me started. It should never have been made.

I enjoyed I Am Legend, but I have never seen The Omega Man or any of the other adaptations, nor have I read the book.

Cheers,
Lawrie.

The MM films and Book of Eli for me. I watched Priest last night, wasn't totally sold on the film but I thought the post apocalyptic feel of the film was good.

LOVED star man's son, still read that book, got a load of Deathland books,a few books called Aftermath(had then since i was a kid, still read em)
One of my favs is The plague of the dead(morningstar strain)by Z .A .Riech(rip) zombies and the fall of civilization
As for films Mad max trilogy, the postman and waterworld, book of eli ,Cyborg(van damme thats cheesy)Steel frontier,Hardware,A new vampire film called Stake land

Another book 48 by James Herbert, and the Fog by the same author

I would add two Steven King books to my suggestion

My all-time Favorite book (the Unabridged version) - The Stand

And a newer favorite - Cell

If you like Deathlands try the sequel Outlanders that is about 200 years or so in the future and is very different (other than the standard hero team formula).

They actually made a low budget Deathlands movie but they ruined a chance for a good post apocalyptic movie.

What about Children of Men? Does that count as post-apocalyptic?

I'd say not. Society is still functioning pretty normally, though the beginning of the end is in sight. It is an amazing movie though.

28 Days Later is up there for me (though again, it's probably mid-apocolypse than post)

The Road is an amazingly powerful book- and it took an even greater significance after the birth of my son

The movie "Hardware" has a special place in my heart too

Which book was about Robots searching for humans far in the future? That sounded interesting and compelling. I can't remember which book and author that was! DOH!

Mad Max 2 (obviously enough) would be my all-time fave. Lots of good mentions already, so I'll throw in "Phoenix Without Ashes," (the novel written from Harlan Ellison's original script for "The Starlost"). I just read it last month and it was amazing. The Earth getting wiped out is post-apocalyptic, right?

I also love Warren Comics' "Dr. Deth with Kip and Muffy."

I haven't seen this one, but I've seen the old VHS box for it and read some about it. Dead End Drive-In.

It's good! It has some Mad Max-ian elements to it, and some 80s cheesiness, but overall it's an enjoyable little flick. In sorta the same vein is Motorama (not PA, though), another Donald P. Borchers 80s movie.

I read the script for the second Hardware movie, I wish they could have gotten it filmed.

Stanislaw Lem's "Cyberiad" about the robotic Trurl and Klapaucius, set so far in the future that Mankind is only a legend.

Genesis II by Gene Roddenberry and it later turned into a far less impressive TV show. The short lived Malibu comics reboot of Ex Mutants was good for a while but left more questions than answers. I can't find any copies of the original series though.

The old Heavy Metal Comics had plenty of post-apocalyptic stuff.

Ranxerox was great. But they got sued by Xerox for the name and lost. And he was a cyborg roaming the wasteland with a 12 year old drug addicted girl.

Judge Dredd.

Nemesis, the Warlock. Earth is almost destroyed by aliens. But they win then fight back by killing all aliens everywhere. Until Nemesis appears. Creedo.
