That would be putting an efx shield to good use though.
I completely understand the impulse of wanting to go with a battle damaged version of this piece (even though the Endgame broken shield might be pushing it). The factory finish on the efx shields is so drab it screams fiberglass from 10 feet away.
I don’t doubt it’s an accurate representation of some version of the stunt shield in The Avengers, but I can’t for the life of me understand why they decided to go this way.

That's awesome GeneralFROSTY. You took a plastic shield and made it look like the Masterworks version. That's some good work right there!

Sooooooo, I hear some people want me to do another run of the Shield.... :cool:(y) The Good News: I don't mind doing another run, but it will be small! I still have the Tooling Die for the Shield! The Shield will have the Star CNC'd into the Shield. I may sell raw parts for anyone wanting to...

For some perspective, here are photos of a version in my personal collection, this one made by Chris Fields a number of years ago. It's a little over 25" wide, which holding against my body is a tad large.
This was the first fan-made version to feature the grooves on the backside but still needed a glued-on star and had the hole in the middle for mounting during the manufacturing process.

The proportions on this look spot on by the way.
Centre and all rings look exactly right to me- You look at this and see Caps shield...

The genuine metal shields are definitely alloy. It was 26". Approximately 3.5" in depth. Outer ring (red)was 3 1/4". Next one in (silver) was 2 3/4". Followed by the last ring (red) that was 2 3/4". The centre ring was 9".

The finish was not painted. It was obviously spun metal. It was definitely anodised. There was no mask lines. To me it had been dipped and fully anodised red.. Then the silver. Stripe lathed off. The centre was not 1 piece. The blue segments looked separate from the star. The blue pieces were also anodised. Then i guess they were all stuck into place.

Finally the inside had been painted a silver colour.

As for the rubber stunt shield.
Was 24". Again approx 3.5" deep. Outer stripe (red) was 2 3/4". Second one in (silver) was 2 1/2" and the inner red was 2 1/2". Centre circle was 9"

This pretty much confirms a lot of what we were talking about- and the fact the 26" and 24" shields had the same star size which is why some look spot on and others do not.

This doesn't add up right... It makes the shield 26 1/2" over the curve...
The 26" is measured over the curve since a 3 1/2" depth would make it over an inch less than measured from the back....

Does this sound right to you guys?
 
Attended the Marvel exhibit at the Franklin Institute yesterday in Philadelphia PA.
So many wonderful props, costumes and original comic art on display, but the cap shield stole the show for me.
Check out the pics of the screen used Age of Ultron shield. I couldn't figure out why the star looks pushed in but it aligns with my theory that it's a separate piece...

That's really interesting. You didn't happen to get a picture of the back side did you? That is making me scratch my head as to how that is put together. I'm wondering if the star is inlaid into the shield, or if it is part of a back plate that may be coming separated from the main part of the shield.

You can actually see that there is space down and around the star. Noticeable at the top point where light is hitting it. You don't really see that in the screen shots that you attached. Either way that is neat to see. Thanks for sharing.

There were two shields there and unfortunately I was unable to get any shots of the back due to how they were displayed. The TFA shield was right against a flat surface behind a case, the AOU shield was in a larger case with the suits but my view was completely obstructed and I couldn't even see the back from any angle.

Dang!...Oh well. I bet it was cool to see all that stuff anyway. I wish that I lived nearby to go check it out.

I think that it is supposed to be a replica of TFA sheild, but I'm not for sure.

The exhibition was incredible. The most impressive things they had on display was Spidey's suit from Homecoming and the Doctor Strange costume. Just incredible craftsmanship and detail!
 
Hey guys I know Im late but Im tryring to replicate the masterworks or Efx shield on 3d printer and cast it in fiberglass or aluminum. Can someone with a EFX shield confirm my measurements? Thank you! Also can you measure the rivet head that hold the strap of the shield? Pic of the shield was taken from RPF member Chewi Thank You
