Watching ESB on Spike.

It reminded me of when I sat in the theater, opening day of ESB and remember thinking, wow.....Vader knowing your last name and concentrating all of the Imperial resources on capturing you....

Pretty heavy Luke...you had a lot of pressure on you Farm boy from Tatooine.

Not just one of, but the end all for anyone who oposed the Empire. Had Luke have missed that shot it would be game over for the Rebellion. I'm sure the destruction of the Death Star probaly helped the Rebellion's cause and got some help for them from some who were sitting on the side lines up until that point.

No kidding, especially after blowing up one of their structures.

Yeah, it's also sweet of the Rebellion to paint a bullseye on this kid's forehead. Instead of keeping it a nameless Rebel who destroyed the ultimate weapon they apparently spread the word and let everyone know in the universe that the kid did it. That was awfully sweet of them to use a farm boy for their own political gains.

Aww c'mon...he was, what?.....19 when he took out the Deathstar?....The kid was probably revelling in the glory......

Rich

I just *HATE* the newly added holo emperor dialog. Something about the "Rebel who blew up the death star... Son of Anakin Skywalker" UGH.

Terrible way to try and tie in the prequels. But then again GL was never know for his great dialog.

I know what you mean, at least in Adywans new version, he actually looks like the Emperor.......

Yeah The New dialogue is kind of Corny. I like the old one better. It gets to the point. They're after Luke Skywalker. The Empire has many spies that could've told them who actually destroyed the Death Star. None of this The Rebel who destroyed the Death Star crap.

If the Empire were listening to the radio they would have heard Luke talking about going in on a bomb run.

George Washington was known to the British Empire. If he had been caught he would have been hung as a traitor. I bet it made him fight harder.

Holy cow. Thank you for posting this. I had yet to consider this whole thing from his perspective, in that he was the Most Wanted kid in the galaxy. Wow. That really blew my mind.

Okay, I'm gonna have to watch the movie tonight with this in mind! :lol

Hands down the most offensive "special edition" add. I don't care if Greedo shoots first and I can even put up with Jedi Rock but there he changed the ******* story. It's the only change that makes me outright angry.

Well, I think it can be assumed that Luke was a pretty resilient kid. Hell, he discovered his Aunt and Uncle's (who were virtually his parents) charred bodies, and within a day he showed absolutely no sign of grief. Plus then he saw his next father/grandfather figure chopped in half and then disappear by the most viscous killer in the Galaxy. A couple of months later and he gets attacked by a nine foot Wampa, hung upside-down in what I assume was a freezing cold cave, miles from anywhere, and has to spend days in hospital. By the time he works out that Vader knows his last name, and that he's the most wanted man in the galaxy, he would be pretty hardened to all that, by now.

Just my two pence.

If Russia has spies in the US and vice versa ( as does every major country ) do you not think the Empire would have spies in the Rebelion . I'm sure Palpatine would have had a name on his desk pretty damn quick. :lol

What the hell...? Is this in some new ESB SE or somethin'? Or is it from 90s SE and I've just forgotten?

IIRC in the first SE they kept the same script but put Ian McDiarmid's face in there. Somewhere after that they changed the whole script in the scene to make it fit better with ROTS. Makes Vader look like a ****ing moron and makes me angry. :angry

In the 1997 SE, the scene was unchanged. They put Ian McDiarmid (and extra dialogue) in for the 2004 DVD.

in the opening text-scroll for ESB it says that vader is searching the galaxy for SKYWALKER.
later, vader says (@ general Veers): "THAT is the system. and I'm sure SKYWALKER is with them."
--> he obviously knew that Luke was named skywalker.

BUT the changed/(deranged) Emperor-hologram-scene shows vader learning of Luke's existence for the very first time: "How Can This BE!?"

I know this was done as a tie-in to ROTS, but in introduces a continuity error into ESB.
anyone who sees this scene , who (also) saw the beginning of the movie,
would know that it just. doesn't. fit. :confused

(wtf was GL thinking?)
