Baylan Skoll / Shin Hati Dark Jedi Costumes - Ahsoka (Series) Star Wars

My first iteration of Baylan’s Armor. Realized i need to make it about 120% on the shoulders to feel comfortable as I’m 6’6” and thick. Going to be looking for fabrics to make his Tunic this weekend. Also going to reprint the shoulders larger and all in one piece so the seem isn’t so obvious.

That's fantastic work! What files are you using, if you don't mind me asking?

For this print I bought

But I have also bought

And one other. Trying to piece together the best of what everyone has made.

For the green stones used in his costume, look into Moldavite. That's the actual stone used, but 3D printing them in clear filament will likely be easier to get the right scale and shapes. Moldavite is an expensive piece of rock, as it turns out.

Apparently it's a 15 million year old meteorite gemstone that's only sourced from the Czech Republic, although I've been informed that there's a cheaper lab-gown version available...I haven't had any luck finding a piece large enough, so I'll be using the green translucent PLA filament for mine.

Lol...those are the same two files that I have purchased. Like yourself, I'm a bit on the larger side, and I have found that if I print mine at 110-percent they seem to fit me pretty well. I will say that the Galactic Armory pauldron versions have a more "hammered" texture, in my opinion.

Word is out that GreatApeStudios will be dropping some more accurate gauntlet files soon, so I may look at those before I print the versions that I already have.

They mentioned in the Livestream that it was longer to reinforce the idea of a broadsword.

Which is a phrasing that just makes me sad because I'm a sword geek and they clearly meant either longsword or great sword. In any era that the term has real meaning, a broadsword is a one-handed weapon.

I wanted to thanks everyone for the good quality shin stills in here. I’ve been working on a shin cosplay this month and the references have been essential. Mine is off for sure but I was just trying to work with options.

I used a fringe/gray instead of cord for the vest and now I wish I had used cord as it’s probably going to end up being like Baylan’s vest, but it’s too late now!

After mine I’ll be sewing a Baylan for my husband, but thankfully I wont need to use stretch fabric for his!
Hey! My wife is in the process of sourcing the cloth for her Shin cosplay and saw your work. She was wondering if you might share where you got your fabric and what color is was? She's also sewing a Baylan me!

There's a good shot in episode 7 that shows how the tunic clasps are sewn on. The rivets/chicago screws are not all the same; some pairs are domed and others are flat. This image also has a clear view of the grid quilting on the sleeves. (Image behind spoiler tag)

Exactly truthful... Every bit of it.

I've ordered a couple of pieces because... Why not, I guess? Just to see what they turn out to be, I suppose. They may not wind up being very usable for the costume. One - smaller, lab grown - has arrived already, and it may work okay for the ring, although shaped differently. The larger natural one is still in transit as it is coming from Europe. :D

About Shin...This won't be one of those hidden endings so typical of the saga? It seems to me...

Great information you guys are posting here!! I was wondering about the tunic clasps - looks like that mystery has been solved.

I printed the same model you guys are printing. I went to 110% for most parts, 120% for the ring. For reference, I'm 6'2", 215 lbs. Seems to fit.

Some things I'm doing a bit differently, like many of you, I'm redoing the buttons on the gauntlets for better accuracy. I'm also carving out the space for some electronics, lights, batteries and LCD panels. I'm very close to printing the first test - after I get the electronics working properly.

I'm using RP2040 boards (maybe switching to RP-Tiny) with LIPO batteries and a 1.54" LCD screen.

For the saber, I'm also modifying the model to hold speakers, a proffie board, batteries, etc. I'm also going to experiment with making a triple sided neopixel (which I guess is already a thing).

All models I've printed seem to be working out well. I just finished printing the belt crystal in clear resin and it looks fantastic. I'll coat it in green tonight and add some airbrushing. I hope to capture that green tint shown in the recent episodes.

Still working on growing out the beard. Lol.
