Battlestar Galactica 2003 scratch build

Since my photo references are limited this project will certainly not be “screen accurate” but then I’ve never been super concerned with that anyway. Capturing the spirit in the presentation is what strive for

Ok, so the starboard flight pod, build as empty closed off museum deck as in the show or open combat ready?

I guess it depends on whether you want the Galactica pre or post war

Visually, from a modeling standpoint, it might be more interesting to have the museum deck in place. It offers some additional display options and areas of visual interest over having both pods being the same. Kind of breaks up the monotony

In a way it is like when you are stuck having to choose to build an aircraft with gears up or gears down. Except in the case you can choose both since one will be operational and one will not

You could also make the museum pod opening cover removeable so it looks functional when you want to display it that way

Most excellent suggestion! Transformable

These greeblie pieces I found on eBay are the frackin bomb! The fit and effect are better than I expected. I did finish a bit later today with the head part and got them fitted correctly then shot them with some black primer. I have to say they look amazing…pics to follow, stay tuned

Well it made sense to do the bow of the ship from the head down as far as the rest of it I decided to revert to conventional shipbuilding and lay the keel first. This ribbing is proving to be extremely difficult but I think I got it wired pretty good

It looks amazing under the primer. Really ties things together!
Thanks buddy! It looks like I’m gonna have to dry fit the kit together a little so I can figure out what to do with the flight pods because duplicating kit parts is not going to work going forward

Damn that's impressive! The symmetry of your ribbing is perfect!
Well thanks buddy! That part may look good and I’ve been using a digital caliper on everything, I just hope when I skin it the proportions are correct as far as the inner structure ribs on the body section are concerned that is

Ambitious and awesome! Loved 40% of the NuBSG and the ships are 10% of that! Enjoying watching your progress.

Thanks,
It’s been a bit of a struggle lately. I miscalculated the position of the flight pod recesses in the main hull and had to butcher someone of what I had done but I think I got it back on track

Flight pod recesses, a bit cumbersome getting these in the correct position but it’s close. Doing the details from the PE that’s for the mobius kit, though I certainly plan to busy it up a little more with random stuff

So the hope is, these grates with a 2mm red LED behind them will be sufficient to obtain that spotty red glow we see in the recesses when the flight pods are extended
