Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

I could not have loved that trailer more. Superman's presence actually CHANGES things in the world. Looks sinister and dystopian. I could not possibly be happier.

EDIT: Online buzz seems to be a lot of people complaining about grimdark. What I see is a movie that actually deals with interesting IDEAS. I'll take that over cotton candy fun time any day. As much as I enjoyed my first few viewings of GOTG, it's pretty fluffy. Whereas something like TDK actually stimulates my intellect a smidge, has some meat on the bone. It's why I can re-watch Watchmen endlessly. My brain is engaged. If all I want is mindless fun, I'll get drunk. I know MOS was a bit of a mess, but I'm super optimistic for this movie.

Watched it several times now and this trailer has done for me what it is ment to do. Alot of focus on the events followin MoS and ofc some nice clips of batman (damm that suit looks awesome)

It is ofc a first trailer for a movie that is still a while of.

Well, after the Ep. VII trailer this was about the most underwhelming thing I could possibly see. I was one of the few who actually liked Man of Steel, but my enthusiasm for this flick is at an all-time low. Maybe Disney should buy DC and put the same jolt of awesomeness into their movies that they've put in the Star Wars and Marvel franchises. :lol

A lot of inspiration for TDKR and Miller. I dig it. Plus, who doesn't want to see a Superman/Batman fight on the big screen? But other than that, the trailer was kind of meh. DC could do a lot better.

Movie could be great but the trailer was AWFUL. I was more excited by the teaser that just showed the suits

I must be one of the few who still loves the Superman people love and cheer on, but the events of MOS would definitely not be the case seeing the off screen casualties that had to have been involved.

Am I also one of the extreme few who doesn't want to see them fight one another and rather work together?

I know we will be seeing another 2 heroes fighting each other next year with Captain America and Iron Man, but there's been a building on-screen tension between the two and I think that works for them, but for the cinematic world of DC we haven't seen these two together and is a harder pill for me to swallow that Bats would be looking to battle Supes, at least right now too soon.

Given the camera work in Man of Steel, having the fight take place at night in the rain with these two bozos wearing dark renditions of their armor isn't the most promising aspect that we'll see anything. This is after all the same studio who thought that having Godzilla fight at night was a great was to showcase the awesome 3D that already cuts down the light. Heck, Age of Ultron has the Hulk Buster vs Hulk fight take place in day time with both characters are very distinguishable from each other and it looks spectacular.

So, you want The DARK Knight (who typically comes out at night and fights crime), to fight Superman during the day? I'll give you the rain part. That seems unecessary. I'd be cool if they went with the TDKR fight and had it in the snow.

I just have a bad feeling about this. I feel this is being rushed and that they are trying to put to much into it in their effort to play catch up.

Two thoughts:

1. My general "meh" response to Man of Steel is carrying over into this film. Man of Steel felt...I dunno...devoid of anything that connected me to it. It was empty images on a screen. And it was BORING. ****ing hell was it boring. Now we've got a film exploring the fallout from the last one, and I honestly just don't give a crap. None of this is interesting to me. I'm more excited about the DC TV shows.

2. I too think that this is all feeling very rushed and "We have to catch up to Marvel," and I expect it to fail utterly. Again, much like Man of Steel did. It'll probably be watchable, but I just won't care about anyone or anything involved. And it won't be the fault of the actors, either. Many of these are talented actors. Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck both have done good work. But this? This just looks like lousy writing and direction. Mostly lousy writing.

I'd take a Batman who fights during the day (Adam West!) over a Batman who wants to make a person bleed.

If it makes you feel any better. The rumor is that

Spoiler?

Is that they are under the influence of something and that is why they are fighting.

So maybe Batman isn't that big of a jerk? ;)

Sounds like someone really, REALLY believes that a fight between Superman and Batman is all that matters. I'm bored by the concept and even more annoyed that this is Wonder Woman's live action theatrical debut.

And Aquaman's. Don't forget about him! I think the fight will be cool. But then again TDKR is one of my favorite stories. I'm not a big fan of Snyder but I'm also trying to keep an open mind. I enjoyed MoS though and think this movie has potential. Remember, this is a Batman movie, not a Superman movie. So it's supposed to be darker.

It’s pretty much everything I expected.
No less.
No more.

Visuals are absolutely stunning. It’s like Snyder rendered the best of the concept artwork to perfection. The image of Supes hovering with the sun behind his back is what I want for my computer wallpaper. I predict this might end up being the best looking superhero film ever shot. No doubt Warner/DC is sparing no expense so I’d expect no less.

Batsuit looks great. Probably my favorite version.

Batman voice done well. Affleck’s own voice is too whiny and having him go down a register would come across like a bad Bale impersonation. The clearly synthesized voice was the right choice.

Trailer itself as a standing piece is pretty unremarkable – tracking shot into city with montage over loud booms. This kind of trailer is so overdone it’s been lampooned more than once.

The writing just made me groan:

“The world has been caught up with what he can do that no one has asked what he should do.”
“Absolute power corrupts absolutely…”
“This is how it starts… the fever. The feeling of powerlessness that turns good men cruel.”
Speaking with gravity doesn’t make bad writing any better.

Warner/DC at their best make thematically simple stories that are elaborately and beautifully told.In fact they’re so beautiful people often mistake this for thematic complexity. This case seems no different.
