Batman : Arkham Knight

y fell for it too at first. wondering if it still wont be tho in the end cus when looking at the trailer he does resemble the character a bit.

I just started Origins because I got it free with my video card and it's better than that last Batman movie IMO. So I will definitely check this one out.

I'm beyond excited for this, and hope they release it for PC. I am not a consule guy. Loved the first two, but have yet to play origins because of bad things I'd heard. Did you guys like/enjoy origins?

Great news! According to my friend and a couple of articles I read online, they're releasing the game on PC as well as the next gen consoles.

Good to hear this'll be out for PC. I wasn't planning on getting an XBone.

While I think the "Iron Bat" thing is a bit over the top, the rest of the game looks like a terrific blend of new and familiar elements. The first two Arkham games were fantastic. I haven't played Origins, but got it on a deeply discounted Steam sale. Anyway, this is looking good so far. I love the larger-scale Gotham, and driving the Batmobile seems pretty cool as well.

I hope you start the game with a solid complement of gear, rather than having to unlock each thing as you go. While I expect that there will be additional toys to use, it'd be nice if you actually STARTED the game being reasonably powerful, and the challenges gradually escalated to MEET your level, rather than the typical approach of "You have only basic equipment and must unlock everything" that other games seem to do.

Well, I just bought a PS4 so I can play this game in two weeks.

I don't understand the hate here for Arkham Origins...I loved that game. It wasn't quite Asylum or City, but I feel it got the Batman/Joker relationship right. I feel like it just got the Joker right in general, especially during the part where you have to get through the Royal Hotel. And it redeemed what Asylum did to Bane.

I am looking forward to Arkham Knight. The gameplay trailers have left me drooling.

y ordered the batman limited edition console + game aswell. This was the only game atm worth buying a ps4 for.

I ended up pre-ordering this from Gamestop to get both the Harley and Red Hood DLC.

I never pre-order games. But I decided to make an exception for this game. Here's hoping I don't end up disappointed.

I'm a Batman fan and love the Arkham series, but I'm behind a generation in consoles and all of the pre-order/exclusive/dlc stuff kind of put me off of really pushing to upgrade. Obviously money was also a factor for me not having the current system, but I just feel a little miffed by the way things have been going this gen. I know that backwards compatibility isn't a right, and the companies can make whatever hardware they want, but the idea of either leaving behind all my games that I bought over many years, or having to keep my 360 around forever really doesn't do much for me. Oh well, I know somehow I've got to play this eventually, I really do think it is a great series of games, even Origins.

I should note that I picked up mine for PC. I figure if Origins runs on it, I can run Arkham Knight. And if I have to tone down graphics to do so, that's ok by me. From what I could tell, most of the other pre-order exclusives were kinda nonsense. Exclusive skins and such. I'd rather have playable content. I can buy skins (or not) in a skin pack later.

That's another thing I'm wresting with, I know that whatever I decide to buy to play this game on I will be basically starting from scratch anyway, so I've been thinking about building a PC, but I'm so out of my depth when it comes to that. I wasn't trying to knock anyone for getting the pre-order bonuses or anything, and I totally agree with you about actual content being more valuable than random skins, just meant that it wasn't that helpful in cementing my decision of what to do.

Oh, I didn't think you were knocking me or anyone else. I find that stuff bewildering and irritating, too. But it's the nature of retail now.

As for building a PC, in my opinion, you're probably better off saving up and buying a console. It'll be cheaper than a PC and it'd come pre-build. That or buy a pre-built PC, but even then, it'll be probably around $1K or up. On the upside, a PC will last you the next decade if you don't care about playing with bleeding-edge graphics and such.

The PC can be upgraded as well.

To put that in perspective, i'd be willing to bet the PC I bought over 5 years ago (i7 920, oc'd to 3.6ghz) would run AK at full specs with a current enough video card (GeForce 970? possibly even older).

These things aren't maxing out the processor these days, they're maxing out the graphics card. You can put together a i5 or i7 4xxxx series machine together with a 970 for somewhere in the 1000 range depending on what else you put on it and be able to max out AK.

I'll give Origins credit for how varied the boss fights were, but that's about it. The map was needlessly large, the game was buggy, and it offered nothing new but the shock gloves from the Wii U port of City which only served to trivialize combat. What really offended me though was that they lied to us about Black Mask being the villain. The twist that it was Joker posing as him wasn't clever, it smacked of WB Games Montreal not having the balls to have a big bad that wasn't the Joker. Even more, it's a stupid way to portray the first meeting between Batman and his arch nemesis. Then you have the needless recasting of Batman for that one game when they reused every other non-Hamill voice actor. Kevin Conroy can't possibly be that expensive nor WB that cheap if they were willing to pump out a sub-par game to get more money off the franchise while Rocksteady took their time making Knight. There's just so much about that game that makes me mad, it's the one Arkham game I have no interest in replaying.

For whatever reason, the talent choices seem to be a definite choice, not money. BEFORE origins came out, Conroy was at SDCC (i think) and leaked he was working on the next batman game at that point which told everyone that Rocksteady WAS doing another game, but just not yet. Everyone wondered prior to that point why RS wasn't doing origins.

I don't think it was every really flat out stated, but i believe they were too busy at the time to do their next planned game at that time. EA didn't want to have a 4 year gap between games so they contracted another company to make an interim game to keep it in people's consciousness so to speak. As for why no Hamill/Conroy - could be contractual, or they didn't have time then, or a variety of things. Could also be they know those guys can't do it forever and wanted to see if they could succeed without them. Again, i don't believe they've ever given a reason.

I didn't think the replacements did too bad a job. Joker was right up therre and I got used to batman after a bit.

The game, though, was meh, it was nothing new. It was basically City with the city cleaned up. I thought the end of AO was a superb tie in to AA, though.

And, i admit, i won't be surprised of the joker pops up at the end of AK either. I know he's dead, but it's a comic book game/story, and plenty of other characters in non-comics have come back when everyone believed them dead.

Sooooo, this game is apparently getting slaughtered in the PC context, in that it is an extremely poorly optimized and lousy port.

I suppose the "good" news for me is that I have plenty of other games I can play until this is put into a playable state. I'm also kinda hoping I can dumb the graphics down to City/Origins level and play it that way (since I'm perfectly happy with the graphics not being bleeding edge, and am more concerned with the overall gameplay experience).

Huh, I had pre-ordered the collector edition in a local store here, a big one, but apparently it's been delayed for 2 weeks again... They did give me the download codes for the PSN, but it's taking forever to download, I don't even the fibre ... They could have given me the code 24 hours in advance so I could have started playing today. I've had a crappy day, but this is the cherry on top. Not happy at all.
