Batman Arkham Asylum Armor Update 4/5/12 Convention Pics Added

Re: Batman Arkham Asylum Armor Progress Update 8/14/11 Leg Armor

Slight modification to the rivets before molding. They are smaller and there are three instead of four now.

This suit is so sickkkkkkk! Amazing work, wicked skills! I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the armour completed and attached.

Thanks. I was going to get the molds finished in time for Halloween but ran out of silicone to properly finish it. It should be done relatively soon. :)

Hey weaponx82,

Any updates on the other pieces? Still looking forward to the rest of this build.

Re: Batman Arkham Asylum Armor Progress Update 8/14/11 Leg Armor

So I finished the legs awhile back and tried to get the mold ready for Halloween. I ran out of silicone to finish the mold and knew I wouldn't get enough material in time. It's thick enough but since I used ground up silicone as filler the mold's current 'finish' is rough. I'll be picking up a trial sized kit of silicone soon to add another layer or two to smooth it out. Then I'll get a good ol' support shell made.

God, it's ugly!

For the last week I've been working on the cowl. This guy is only going to be from the jaw line up; similar to the dark knight. I'm not fond of the small neck but all for the higher level of comfort and mobility. I like the design of the dark knight movie realization toy. The neck piece is all one piece and gives the toy a more menacing look. So I'll loosely reference it when making the neck piece.

I'm using the Batman Noel design be Lee Bermejo as inspiration for the cowl.

I think I'll be doing some sort of stone mold for the cowl. I'm not sure what material the final piece will be made out of. Any alternative options someone can recommend for making the mold or recommendations on casting material?

Awesome to see someone taking on a different and unique Batman suit. Everything you've done so far looks fantastic! Stoked to see the final product!

Long overdue update!

Man, I don't get on here often enough. Thank you all for checking this out!

I've finished sculpting the cowl now I need to figure out the best way to make a mold of this guy. I'd like to do a two-part brush on silicone mold but I don't know of a good release agent that can hold up to the brushing (when brushing on the second half of the mold).

And I don't have a degassing chamber so it pretty much has to be a brush on mold. I thought about doing a stone mold but I've never done one before and I feel much more comfortable doing a brush on mold.

Any thoughts? Preferably recommendations on a good release agent when making brush-on two part silicone molds? :)

Re: Batman Arkham Asylum Armor Progress Update 1/24/11 Cowl Finished!

Hey WeaponX,

Welcome back buddy! Looks like you've been busy.

Awesome job on that cowl! It looks great so far, and I like it even more with the primer and paint. Wish I could offer some advice on the release agent but I've never cast any thing like that before.

Re: Batman Arkham Asylum Armor Progress Update 1/24/11 Cowl Finished!

That is amazing. I can't wait to see this whole thing put together.

Re: Batman Arkham Asylum Armor Progress Update 1/24/11 Cowl Finished!

This is just pure amazing! Really cant wait to see the final beaut pieced together, you have some serious skills going on man. Are you going to weather the armour to give it a used look, what sort of colour scheme?
