So here we are. Apparently it takes 9 months to birth a Batman 89 Speargun. This is the culmination of so much research, modeling, prototyping, remodeling, more research, more research, and production to get a tiny batch of this finished product. It's not perfect. Nothing is. But it feels so damn satisfying to hold this in my hands. The weight is great. Heavy enough. Shown here is one of the finished spearguns and the tranquilizer dart accessory.

I learned a lot about working with SLA-printed parts. There's some real pros and cons. It definitely MUCH more detailed than anything I can print on my FDM printer. But the material is much less forgiving. It simply does not want the be tapped for screws. I spent a ton of time trying to find the perfect satin black, even testing some expensive airbrush lacquers. The winner was plain old Krylon Satin Black.

There's one more detail coming, I had some darts made in solid brass. But for now the painted resin dart looks fine.

A final thank you to everyone here who chimed in with research images, stories, pictures and suggestions. You are what makes the RPF awesome. You made this product better and the process more fun. No, I'm not doing a run. Sorry in advance :)

I'm picturing this in a case with custom cut foam for all the attachments. Similar to the Wayne Enterprises cases from the Dark Knight Trilogy.

So with this first small batch barely out the door, I (with the help of Nightwing Returns ) have been digging back into the model to do another pass of corrections to bring this even closer to screen accurate. All parts shown in green have been adjusted or rebuilt to be more accurate. These are small details (mostly), but apparently I'm not done obsessing over this speargun.

I think Valor will be the first to say this hasn't been the easiest thing in the world to go over. You finish with one detail and another little nuance shows up.

I'd say the biggest challenge is to get away from the SD Studios guns. They have been handled and recasted for 20+ years that the internet is flooded with pictures of them. The source for good quality images is very limited with different versions of the same "on-screen" gun. But I think we're on to the idealized core look based on the details of 2 specific guns that generally look the same with the very minute specific details sans the different screws (one being the '89, the other being Returns).

All in all, Valor has outdone himself on this. He's been steadfast, receptive, and a real pleasure to work with. I really can't deny how much of a pleasure & honour it has been to be a part of this. Thanks, Valor

The spear is awesome!! Being brass it will tarnish pretty quick. You might want to clear coat it if you want it to look shiny and new.

Thanks everyone for you interest and support. The next step on this journey is an extremely limited run of kits for the V2 version of this gun. What's changed between V1 and V2? A LOT of little things that make this more accurate to the on-screen guns. After my initial V1 run, my team set out to identify details that brings this speargun closer to the screen-used spearguns. We were able to gain access to exclusive imagery and measurements of some of the screen-used guns now in private collector's hands. There are details on this gun that no replica has captured correctly, and we're pretty proud of that!

How flexible is that cable on the bolo attachment? Would it be possible to hollow out those little discs on the ends of the cable to act as little reels that can be manually wound? Analogous to how a weed-eater reel winds up (minus the ratchet). Cable would be fixed to the central rod of the bolo, so you would hold the disc and turn the bolo bulb to wind.

Edit: Now I see in screenshots that after the bolo is fired, the cable comes out of the ends of the bolos. So those aren't meant to be reels - nevermind!
