Hey guys i had a post a week or so ago about finding the right ball for a replica baseketball, thought i would start a new thread though to show my completed project and some advice for anybody who wantsnto attempt this themselves.
So here it is,
(sorry if the image doesnt come through, i'm using tapatalk at work lol)
So the paint, white satin spray paint base straight onto a cleaned rubber ball. The ball can be any generic basketball really, some differences i did note is on some balls, the texture bumps, some are more raise than others and some are in a sort of circular pattern rather than laid out in rows, i chose one laid in rows with big bumps to allow texture to show through the paint and closer match my screen caps.
Red lines are the one thing i know i need to revisit, they were painted on free hand and arent as uniform as i would like. And ideas on how i could apply 100 or so identical lines to a bumpy sphere would be appreciated lol.
The spalding logo and NBL were hand painted on, i was originally going to use waterslide decals but decided against it due to the whole "wrapping an orange" logic.
Red paint was fiery red matte, blue paint was just a generic dark blue that i mixed with some white, so i couldnt tell you 100% the right blue i used.
Thats it, if people want to see them but tbh the one up is sort of all encompassing because it shows both the difficult parts.
Not the most difficult or impressive project but i had fun doing it.
