My nephew is getting a 3D printer and I've seen a lot of people recommending the Bambu Lab A1 printer. He has a little experience with one of the Creality printers already. My question is if he gets the base model, can he later add the multi color printing or is that a buy it or you don't get it? I think the multi color version i $489, so that might be pushing it for him. He mainly just screws around making random things, but I'm going to commandeer it for some things so I want to make sure he has a decent one. Oh and so he has fun, blah blah blah.

Ok, thanks! I'm not sure how much I would use it because I would probably be painting everything. My nephew isn't that crafty so anything that needs painting he makes me paint...

I have the P1S and we have multi color printed some things like Christmas ornaments and name tags. It's a neat feature, but can waste a lot of filament in the color changes. Our multi color prints did turn out very nicely.

I think you will be really happy with a Bambu printer

Well we ordered the combo version with multi printing so he's happy. Should get it tomorrow so I'll post how it goes. Between the two of us we have more ideas than time/money. No clue about slicing the models or whatever you need to do so that will probably be the biggest learning curve. He knows a little, but not much. I will also need to learn some modeling software if I want to make my own parts.
