Hmmmm...Merlin? Post style and wording sounds the same?
Either that or he's using a translator, if that's the case if will make anyone sound weird.
Hmmmm...Merlin? Post style and wording sounds the same?
I have a 9x13 print directly from Andrew Probert for sale if anyone wants it...
Since we know at least one page of the used comic, it's possible to find the whole correct comic.

Yes, that's one of my next projects next month. The 3 pages of the letter, the 1 page of the repair instructions and both envelopes.![]()
Quick question on trying to ID this comic... do we think the Red Ryder back cover is part of the core book? Or do you think the actual inner comic is more modern and the back cover was added along with the custom cover?
I just want to know if it is worth the time to scan some books from the back covers or if that will just throw me off course...
The "Red Ryder" advertising is original from the 50s and was just part of the custom made cover for the movie. The inner comic is probably from the 80s, so I don't think that it has the "Red Ryder" page.
Good luck with your search. I hope someday will someone find that comic.
You may have done more research than I already, but when I stared checking back covers it looked like it was from 1940? ...
Okay, could be the 40s. But the "Red Ryder" ad is not the problem - I already have it on my hard disc in a very (very!) high resolution. We're just searching for the inner comic. And the style of the comic on that sample photo is not from the 40s or 50s. It looks more like a comic from the 70s or 80s.
If you search the internet hard enough you can easily find out what comic was used for the red Ryder ad![]()
Yeah, at the end, you can find everything on the internet if you search hard enoughIf you search the internet hard enough you can easily find out what comic was used for the red Ryder ad![]()
Yeah, at the end, you can find everything on the internet if you search hard enough. Why not just saying that the add is in issue 17 of the "Smash Comics" series, saving other RPF members some hours figuring out where to find the add? Finding a high res scan of the add is another thing, since you won't find a copy of this comic for an affordable price.
Anyway, I'll post the high res scan I have sent to Roland tonight. I just hope that someone who owns a good version of the front art is also willing to share this with the RPF community and post it too.
Just to be clear: the original Red Ryder Add is not on the back of a comic! It's found INSIDE a comic book. And the comic book the add is in, is not the correct inner comic.
Well what's the comic???
I don't know if that exact add is in more than one comic. I searched for a very long time to find the exact one, and only found one particular comic WHAT COMIC??? . I found a lot of comics that have a Red Ryder add that comes close, but where the coloring is slightly different, or the bottom left box with the other gun types is different, etc... The only correct one I found (and the owner of the comic was kind enough to scan the add in high resolution) was somewhere inside of the comic, not on the back.
... when it come to back to the future EVERYONE seems to walk on egg shells when it comes to certain information that's all.
Also Tom I'm not looking to start a war here it's just that when it come to back to the future EVERYONE seems to walk on egg shells when it comes to certain information that's all.
After your statement, I realized that keeping this information for myself is just nonsense. It also took me quite some time to trace the add, but what use is it to keep this info to myself? I already shared the add with Roland, but since this whole discussion about the add comes up here, I thought: "Why not share it with the whole community, so people don't have to spent hours on tracing the add." I don't exactly know where I found the info about the Smash Comic, but after I found out the correct comic, I traced someone on eBay who bought a copy of that comic (for A LOT of money) and politely asked if he could make me a high-res scan of the add. That person agreed and has sent me the add. So that's where I got it.Just to be clear now that i opened my mouth it's ok to share but a day ago it was just vague information?
