Back to the Future

Awesome, thanks for the quick reply, Roland! Thanks again for the absolutely epic graphics; you did a stunning job!:love

Thank YOU! You're welcome! :)

Just one advice from me yet: It would be good if your print shop first do a test print on ordinary paper to check whether the colors are correct on the print (maybe they can use my US-Tabloid versions for testing). The "problem" is: The colors at all my works are defined in RGB color space (Red Green Blue), because I found out that it's better for home printers. The big print houses normally need CMYK color space (Cyan Magenta Yellow Black). If the colors on the test print don't look correct, it's necessary to make color corrections.

Ahh, good idea! I went to Staples earlier this week to print out some Blade Runner paper props I had made in RGB color space and when they came out, the prints were definitely darker than what I was expecting.

I'll go ahead and change the color space to the PDFs; thanks again! :D

guys ..just a thought what with this thread and the mattel mess , would it be time to start a new thread where those that are able to help post up what skills or machinary they have in order for us to group build a accurate durable board at close to cost prices?

No guarantee that your print shop really needs CMYK. The darker colors could be a result of a wrongly adjusted printer in the print shop or your PC screen is set too bright.

I can only speak for myself: I will definitely start a new thread for my own Hoverboard build with pictures of the progress. And my board will be very cheap (only the costs, not the appearance ;)).

You're the king of props Roland ! No need to discuss or look for a rival :lol Thanks again and again :thumbsup

Thank you. :) But I think, all of us here are friends, no rivals. And I'm sure, there are a lot of people here, who are better in making costumes or sculptures than I am. I'm just good in making paper props. ;)

Here is an addition to my clock tower donation can post. I finally found a more accurate can cap. Now I'm very happy with my replica. :)

Nice!!! Were did you get the cap (and which can did you use)?

The can is the same as before (the "Finetti" sticks from "Kaufland" market). I just replaced the cap by another one I found in the "ALDI" market. It's from a can with brown bread ("Vollkornbrot"). This can itself is too small, but the red cap is perfect. Here a picture without the cap (which is now on my donation can :D):

do you have the metal costa coffee jars in the us? the ones for percolators? we have a brand in the UK that is I believe a US company, they have a number of this variety also some with red caps. do you want a photo next time I go to the the market?
also the variety of instant mashed potato 'Smash' uses red plastic caps of the same size I believe.

The size is not the problem. I found a lot of red caps with the correct size (about 10 cm / 4 inches wide). Finding a red cap with a screen accurate design was more difficult. And finding a can which has the correct height of 5.5 inch was most difficult (at least in Germany).

... the can looks a little bit too big imo.

If we believe the following picture from screenused.com, we need a can with the height of 5.5 inch. This is exactly the size of my can.
