Back to the Future

Now it's finished, my best work so far (as I think): my Grays Sports Almanac.

The whole text on the cover and the inner pages is fully vectorized. The cover, the inner title page and the sports results page are completely redrawn and high accurate (correct fonts etc.). All the other inner pages are high quality vectorizations of 2000 dpi scans from the original source, that was also used for the real prop: the "Guinness Sports Record Book 1985-86". In my almanac you will find all 24 different pages, which were used for the real prop.

And here are the PDF files. I made two versions. One version for reading on the screen and one version for printing. Both versions have the same quality, BUT: the cover of the screen version is split into two parts and has NO SPINE, and the pages have no markers for cutting out. The print version is intended for printing on regular paper sheets and cutting out.

IMPORTANT: you should have a fast Internet connection. The files are very large (196 MB per file).

The screen version:

Grays_Sports_Almanac_screen_version_remade_by_Roland_Zubcic.pdf (196 MB)

The print version:

The first page is the cover - print it on a large paper sheet (A3 or US-Tabloid). The inner pages (3-100) are intended for double-sided printing on A4 or US-Letter sheets. The cutting markers are only on the front page of each sheet.

US sizes:

International sizes:

Print version, cover only:

US-Tabloid:

A3:

Mirror:

80sguy has uploaded two files onto another server. If the download doesn't work on my server, try this:

I hope you all have fun with my almanac. At the end of next month I will post a do-it-yourself guide with instructions how to make your own book with a silver reflecting background out of my files.

Don't wonder about the order of the pages in my almanac. It's not the same as in Markpoon's almanac. I chose the same order as the pages appear in the "Guinness" book. There are two reason for that:

1) I wouldn't make a copy of Markpoon's work
2) in his almanac I had missed the page combination, that can be seen in the scene where old Biff is showing the young Biff the almanac. The left page is the sports results page and the right page is the "Basketball" page:

Here are some preview pics of my almanac.

Thank you very much Roland putting in all the work and sharing it with everyone.

I'm looking forward to your binding tutorial, I'm assuming perfect binding.

Is there a PIH catalog for BTTF still online? I was looking around last night and saw links to download one, but of course they were dead now.

Hi,

I am french, can you explain "PIH" ?

It's okay ...
My brain a little bit slow this morning . (Profile In History)

Maybe not as perfect as a book that was made by a professional printing house, but still perfect enough in comparison with a screen used prop. I hope so. :D My tutorial will focus mainly on the silver reflecting background and how to make it.

No problem. I've just uploaded it. Here it is. :)

file removed!

EDIT: I've removed the file due to excessive downloads. But it's still downloadable on bttf.com:

Yes, but not the one from the PDF catalog. It's too small (just 964 pixels high). I used the auction image from their website. It's 1200 pixels high. I upscaled that image and applied some graphic filters to make it sharper and clearer. The red background and the gray shadow behind the sportsmen are redrawn. Looks fine, when you print it out. :)

And now I hope we will have the content of the Oh Là Là magazine to switch the cover with the Almanach Of Sport.

All informations welcome.
