Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build NEW VIDEO JACKET pg 27!!!

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

It is mentioned in the instructions. Pour the red onto the diffuser and squeegee it out - let that set and then do the black layer :)

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

Friggin awesome work Gary. THIS is why you are THE BTTF GOD!

I suspect that the "paint wash" is probably grey instead of black.

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

Yeah, I bet you are probably right. It's most likely a dark grey to match the grey of the sleeves...

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

Just went back and looked at the reference pics. I have no doubt I'm using the wrong diffuser. I really need to track down the right stuff.

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

I told Brad I'm not really interested in doing a jacket, but dammit if I'm going to let this go so quickly.

I'm going to track down the correct diffuser and give this another test. My curiosity really has the better of me now :)

Thanik god for OCD!!!

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

Why would you lay a piece of cloth over semi wet rubber? This makes no sense to me.

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

Strength/Durability...

Not what I meant. How do you get the cloth under the rubber if it's stuck on the light panel? Do you peel it off and glue the cloth to the back? Why can't I get a straight answer?

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

Light panel is on the bottom, then a layer of latex rubber (let that dry), then another layer of latex rubber (but before this layer dries you add the fabric to it so it sticks).

That is as basic as you are going to have it explained to you with out diagrams, but if that is what is needed, DON"T PROCREATE! :lol

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

So do you pour the rubber on the opposite side of the panel where the shapes would be inverted?

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

Ok, question time is over. Thanks for the help. Sorry for the trouble.

Sorry for the crappy iPhone pics. Just grabbed these on the way to work today. As you can see the diamond pattern is MUCH closer to the original than what I got from Lowes.

I'm going to try and video the full process tonight/tomorrow and get you all squared away. Total cost for these two panels was $18 just in case anyone wants to track that.

Brad, since you put your own jacket together can you tell me just how large the 5 pieces of red need to be? I'm wondering if I can do this one one sheet of diffuser or will need to use the two.

Thanks,
Gary

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

There are only 4 panels used. I'll measure them. HOWEVER, the original jacket didn't have a seem in the back, so I believe there should only be 3 panels total.
