Sign that petition, and it may come out in 2015, or get a job in designing shoes at Nike and you might be able to get it sooner.

A replica pair sold for like $300 on ebay about 3-4 weeks ago...looks like they found a close enough shoe then used those foamies from the craft store to make the "high-top" part and I pretty sure they front logo lit up.
SOMEONE around here should try producing these.

I'd get some foamies and some EL stuff and make it myself if i knew what shoe to use for a base.

    Hey guys, check these out.

Clear sole for lighting, easy to overlay with suede, then add extension for height.

With all the talented sculptors here, we should be able to make these 100% screen accurate without cheating by using a base shoe.... Can't anyone take on the challenge of sculpting the base of the show and then teaming up with another RPF'r to sew the top of the shoe together? I am here in Los Angeles and if anyone here in LA wants to get together in person to talk about doing these I am willing any time..... e-mail me at jedifyfe@hotmail.com

I totally agree. The ONLY drawback to sculpting one that I can think of, is that if people actually want to wear these, the sculptor would have to make multiple sized soles. That's assuming people want to wear these (and I assume they do).

I think that we should make these as a display/wearabl size 8.5 mens (like the originals). If anyone can fit in them then good for them (I would need a size 11). But really besides walking around your house and maybe to a BTTF convention I wouldn't be caught dead in these things outside...You get shot for wearing something like that in LA :)

I am going to attempt to sculpt the soles. I will need someone who can make a mold then cast these in clear rubber.

If you get the chance, it'd be great to learn more details on your replica-pair (materials used, light setup, switch location, dimensions... anything really... :) ).
My initial thought is to use foamies for the light-blue sections and laces/nike symbol/ankle-strap, padded fabric for the white inner portions, and for the sole... well... I'm not exactly sure. I expect they'd need to be sculpted, cast in rubber, then painted. The clear portions of the sole might be more difficult. Does anyone know if there's a durable clear-rubber substance suitable for casting?

As for the light-setup, I'll leave that to someone more qualified. ;)

    EDIT:
Just saw Jedifyfe's post above... Since he's taking a shot at the sole-sculpt, I'll see if I can dissect the construction of the shoe's-body. If anyone has fabric/material suggestions, let's hear 'em. :thumbsup

Smooth-On's dragon skin would be perfect, but it cures with alot of bubbles. I'd love to sculpt these, but wouldn't be able to get them doen for like a year :unsure

    Neoprene. Good call... :thumbsup
I'm thinking it might be better to use nylon-webbing for the laces with the ends attached to elastic strips hidden by the shoe-body. This would keep the laces solid/firm, while still leaving some stretch-room for different feet sizes.

I've never worked with leatherette, but after doing a short Google search, I think it definitely has potential.
