B4Dw0Lf Build

Just a couple of really quick pix

any advice how to make a good looking small blast look I'd appreciate it. I want to add a little more war damage but dont want to just go ahead and make a hole in the armour...

Cheers

Looks good! You can buy cleaned whitened bones off of ebay. Like coyote toe bones and teeth if you wanna put some trophies on your necklace!

To add blast marks without cutting into the armor you can try straight paint.  Brush paint where you want the marks to be and with a tissue swipe the paint from the center outwards in different directions to create the outer edges of the blast.   Not the best at explaining, so here's a pic.  I didn't color the inside of the blast mark but I'm sure you could do that too.  And I'm sure layering the paint would make it pop as well.

I get what your saying... if for example I painted a circle with a cloth I should wipe the paint in an outward motion... almost a start effect... Ill give it a couple of practices on scrap foam and see how it looks

Thanks

Just quickly, for anyone working on a buget build i found these. I dont know if this has already been brought to the attention of the lair but these "lizard King" shoe covers might work well as your Predator feet... I picked up a pair for $7

I am still here just life has gotten in the way a bit with regards to the build.  I have been collecting stuff however, even though Ive not had a lot of time to build I have a box of bits that once I get some time Ill be able to crack on...

I also just discovered that Universal Studio will be hosting an Alien Vs Predator haunted house this year so now I need to make plans to go check that out and no doubt attempt to pick up some merchandise.

Anyways, so to conclude I am alive, I am still building and Ill be updating as soon as I get time to crack on

I know theres a number of builds that remain unfinished due to time and then other things happening but im determined to finish before September 15th when I intend to have my first convention with the suit

I have a question:

When it comes to the loin cloth/skirt/kilt whatever do you attach it to the suit?  I've been noticing recently that mine seems to be slipping down on the dummy and god forbid I should attend a convention and find that my 'skirt' is now around my ankles....   So what have you guys done in the past to ensure that dosnt happen?

Yay, I finally got to spend some time on the Predator.

Its been nearly two months I think since I actually was able to put some time into it.

So here we are I finally started to paint the mask, having never done anything like this before I was obviously very hesitant and I think that why it has taken me so long to get round to it.

Firstly the undercoat and base colour

then came the paint

thats now been drying over night and hopefully either today or tomorrow I can start adding more detail, the light in this picture actually dosnt do it justice. I know its more Orange than the Albino figure but this matches my suit better. And I still have the white quills to add to the eye brows and mohawk.

I also started to mount the 'Lizard King' feet to a pair of rubber boats, my plan is to use the boots for my shin armour too making it all one thing.

This is such an awesome build! I'm really loving how that armor is turning out. But if I may make one tiny suggestion. I don't wish to be a detail nazi, but before you do anymore painting on the mask, can you trim off those damn seam tabs on the lower mandibles? They are driving me crazy. The detail you are putting into your build is so fantastic but my eye goes straight to those dang seams. Very distracting... :(

To answer your question on attaching your loin cloth. It would probably be a good idea if it is slipping down on the form. I don't know what your body type is, but usually men do not have the benefit of "hips" that women have in order to keep their pants up. And any method you can use to give you sound of mind that you don't have to constantly check the position of your waistband during the hunt is recommended.

With Kayla's build I put an upside-down Y strap on her loin cloth. Being a little bugger, she has no waist and a little belly. The straps that are attached to the loin cloth and drapes over her shoulder are more than efficient in keeping the brief secure.

If you don't want this type of support then you can tack it on one side of the suit and have the other attached to the bandolier. The side where it is attached to the suit, I would place a reinforcement piece of fabric or leather on the inside of the suit where you place your stitching. This will insure that the suit is not damaged by stress caused by the weight or pulling of the loincloth. Hope this made sence. I can draw a picture if you need a visual explanation.

But before you make any attachment permanent, make sure the placement of the stitching does not hinder your ability of getting in and out the suit in an easy manner.

the seams on the mould have been bugging the **** out of me, I did try to cut them with scissors but i dont seem to be able to get close enough without damaging the mask.  its irritating to say the least

What about an x-acto knive?  Or perhaps someone on the board has a better solution.  My husband may have to deal with the same issue. :(

Interesting mask I've not seen that one before where did you get it?
I actually bought it from eBay a few months ago, I believe it was a Monster Room cast

one of my biggest concerns at this point is that Im pretty sure I put a little weight on since I began this project and Im kinda worried that the suit isnt going to fit...

at the end of the day once its all completed if it does fit then it'll make a rather cool display piece I guess
