B4Dw0Lf Build

So the Mr I, suit is well under way now, like everything else in this build Im not sure how its going to turn out. but I figured its a learning exorcise either way so what the heck lets try everything...

I did have the idea of using some expanding foam to give various amounts of texture, and obviously its foam so it'll have a good level of give to it. So I used it on the various areas I wanted to concentrate texture once I applied the foam I dabbed it, this basically take out a lot of the air in it and prevents it expanding so much. I also add some sanded polystyrene again to really give some texture to the suit.

Im letting it dry right now but once its cured Im gonna give it all a cover of 50/50 latex then start the painting.

heres a quick pic before I applied the foam....

Looking pretty good, the expanding foam idea is a nice touch!  How many layers of latex at this point in the picture?

Cool.  You'll probably need 4 or 5 coats of liquid latex.  They dry fast in the sun so it shouldn't take too long.

at this point theres 2 coats of latex on the front of the suite, it does however also have a coat of plasti-dip.

again.... experimenting!

BTW, did you end up using the rubber cement/naptha/pigment method for the paint ?
Saving that for the mask.... which I suspect wont be done now for a couple of weeks.  I have a Ghost Hunt to conduct this weekend in Utah so Im not gonna get much of a chance to do anything until next week at the earliest

Not got a lot done, but I did manage to make the groin armour and even started working on the quills

for some reason I dont seem to have a photo of the groin armour but here's the start of the quills. Had a batch drying over night that I'll be adding to the suit later today

I love the armor bud! The mr I suit looks good too. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Thank you

Im certainly learning a few things while I build this,  just wish there were more hours in the day... also I seem to be avoiding painting the mask... the airbrush is something which Im somewhat scared to use

Lol me too. I'm just having someone else do mine. I've seen a lot of ppl on here that do really well for their first time. And there are lots of tutorials on how to use the air brush on you tube!

Question time:

So I noticed that with a lot of the latex suits the armour and skin are all one piece,  Which Im sure has its advantages but for those of you who have built their suit using the Mr I technique do you  attach certain parts of the armour to the skin or is it all free flowing?  Im kinda tempted to actually attach the belt and the thigh armour to the Mr I suit just so that stay where they are supposed to, Im certainly not gonna attach the chest armour but I can see an advantage to it around the waist.    It would also mean that the net suit would be permanent as the armour goes on top of that.

What are your thoughts??

Latest Photos:

The Buckle

Thigh Armour with PVA/Water mix

Base coat/Plasti-Dip

Suit now has netting, putting that on the dummy was quite an experience

Some closer up of the armour and the paint job

Gonna work on the rear armour tomorrow and hopefully the loin cloth/skirt.... Im really rather happy with how this is all coming together

just a quick update,

I added the skirt which really does start to bring this all together, also my daughter and I made a beaded necklace. I'm hoping to find some small animal skulls to build a trophy sash but I also wanted to make a second sash with claymores.

My wife is away this weekend, my girls are up all night watching movies and playing Xbox so theyre sleeping all day. Im getting so much stuff done....

Ok so more picture.... I should probably figure out how to add "Pic Heavy" to my topic title)

Last night and this morning I worked on accessories...

I want to make a bandoleer for the claymores, I know theyre not screen accurate but the fact I made them myself along with pretty much everything else has an air of satisfaction about it.
