B.P.R.D. Tooth Fairy Head Display

Hey guys, I've been playing around with sculpting lately and I finally gave a tooth fairy head a shot. I just used Sculpey III for the head and Translucent Sculpey for the teeth. I've found that once I work with the Sculpey for a few minutes it becomes goo and way too soft to get any real detail with whatsoever...anyone have any advice on what I could use? If I find something that works better I'd like to take a crack as casting it as well, which will be a first for me. I know I can do quite a bit better but what I'm using now I can only work with it so much. Also any advice on a decent airbrush for a beginner?

Anyways here's a test I did trying to make a B.P.R.D. specimen of a tooth fairy head. He's kind of....special,hehe :

Firstly, Amazing piece! Great work.

Secondly, I have never worked with Sculpey.... Im assuming it is warming up from the heat of your hands, fingers. Try tools?

Those teeth....wow.

@ Lear60man - Thanks man! I suppose I should keep the handling to a minimum so the Sculpey doesn't get too mooshy. I'd be happy to find something less tempermental so that I could put more time into it. I'll have to look into other materials online.

I was going to go with some straighter teeth but I liked the goofy look of the snaggle-tooth look better since I was just messing around anyways.

@Mostly Fantasy - Thanks,me too! I was having a fun time cursing at my clumsiness trying to put the teeth in with tweezers.

That is seriously creepifying, but even so, the materials/techniques you used in its construction make it look like a creature that could have existed in reality (as opposed to something merely CGI).

In short, NICE. :cool:thumbsup

I appreciate the positive feedback! I admit it's pretty rough close up but at arms length away I think it's pretty rad, hehe.

Eh, My favorite rule is the 6 foot rule. If it looks awesome at 6 feet away, it looks awesome. If it looks like crap at 6 feet away, you need to repaint it or redo it.

It was taught to me by a professional in the business, and frankly it's my favorite rule next to no recasting :lol

The sculpt looks pretty awesome man. Love the teeth detail, but I'd have guessed he was from somewhere around MS with that grill :lol

It'd make a hell of a companion piece to the blanket/tapestry that relicmaker did!

Yeah,he's got a face only a mother could love...from 6 feet away.

Hehe, now I wonder who bought one of those 'ol tapestry thingies :angel. I wonder if anyone on the PIF would give him a nice home.
