Avengers to be shot in Cleveland

This is kinda cool. I don't see it being the bigger shots, but maybe it will be more than the Sandman chase scenes from Spider-Man 3.

Oh, har har Larry!

It makes sense. I mean, you know what they say. All the little kids growin' up on the skids know Cleveland rocks, Cleveland rocks.

This is good news. I'm sure it's a deal left over form the last administration in the state. Hopefully the new "film board" will be more aggressive in getting productions here.

Cleveland doesn't rock that much. I've been there. It especially doesn't rock as much since they turned 107.9 THE END into a crappy R&B station back in the 90's.

Marvel Studios is supposed to set up shop here in Albuquerque, but there a fight over the film incentives in New Mexico right now. They were supposed to shoot in Michigan as well and they pulled out because of the incentives there.

PA is about to cut the tax incentives for studios too so we're going to lose a ton of cash. Pittsburgh is a huge draw for filming because it's a moderately big city and cheap to film in. It would be nice if cleveland got this because it would trickle money into the economy of the areas around it.

NJ is doing it too, I hear.

But yeah, PA's been pretty big on tax incentives for film companies. It's not a bad idea really, if they actually show up. What you lose in tax revenues you gain in (presumably) the money the production spends locally (which itself may be taxed), and it allows local industries to develop (which are also taxed).

But yeah. Sucks that we (like everyone else) are broke.

107.9 used to be ZRock. One of the best metal stations in the mainstream.

Ohio set up huge tax breaks, I guess, and beat Michigan in the end.

I had a thread on here to list all the movies with stuff filmed in Pittsburgh and PA and i think KDKA (the pittsburgh channel i watch news on) said close to 70 film crews were in PA last year. Even "I am number four" had stuff filmed in Pittsburgh and Russell crowe filmed his one movie in Pittsburgh for 3 months. The state would be stupid to cut the tax breaks. In this economy any state would be nuts to turn down a chance to get any money into their areas.
