Avengers Movie SPOILER Thread

I thought the actor playing Loki was amazing! I also adored Hawkeye, as I knew I would. The real surprise was Hulk. I've never really liked Hulk, didn't get the appeal. But Banner/Hulk stole the show. Turning Loki into a ragdoll, straightarming Thor, the "I'm always angry" line. Man, Mark R rules and for ONCE the Hulk was convincing as a CGI creation.

My favorite moment may have been Cap silently forking over ten bucks though.

I'd have given him another 10 if I was there - I was suprised at a flying aircraft carrier myself :)

That, and the post slap down Loki - "If it's all the same to you, I think i'll have that drink now."

Loved the little one liners here and there.

I didn't see a whole lot of nods or easter eggs. I kind of expected a bunch just given the nature of the movie. Did you guys catch any obscure ones?

I mentioned that I think Stan Lee was referring to Spiderman when he had his comment about a "hero in New York?!"

This maybe an odd question but what type of 3D glasses did everyone get ? In selected theaters they had avenger themed glasses and they looked kinda cool and nice souvenir.I was looking foreword to getting a pair but the move theater i went had the normal black ones.

My understanding was that those glasses were only for the Ultimate Marvel Marathon that day. I got there over an hour early and all they had left was Hulk glasses and the stragglers got regular glasses.

OK, I've seen it three times. (I may have a problem. lol)

The only thing I could have hoped for that is not in the movie, is that I had imagined Tony Stark and Steve Rogers would bond over the fact that Steve had worked with Howard Stark. Nick Fury was really able to get Tony's attention in Iron Man 2 when he mentioned his father. I thought I would at least get to see them have a conversation about it, not just a small mention by Stark. I figured he would have some questions about his father he would want to ask. I imagined how the scene would play out as soon as I saw Howard in Captain America.

Also, I would have more of an Avengers theme music. A little track that is highly recognizable here and there throughout the movie. Something heroic and moving like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Superman, or Star Wars. Something that when you hear it, is INSTANTLY identifiable and linked to the Avengers.

My OTHER question is, about the aliens. They appear to be heavily armored organic life forms. Why do they all of a sudden just switch off like battle droids from the Phantom Menace when Iron Man destroys their ship with the nuclear weapon?

None of the above hinders my enjoyment of this movie in the least bit. When does the blu-ray release? I want the super-deluxe version!

So, why did they switch off? Anyone?

My guess is that they are drones.

From the marvel movie wiki

The Chitauri are a powerful warrior race, a hybrid between organic beings and machines. They're controlled by a Mother Ship which never shows on the battlefield, and acts as one during war.

Guys, c'mon. You're all killing me here. Loki's staff WAS an Easter egg. The reason it controlled whomever he touched with it, and why it was glowing during the unpresidented argument between the Avengers in the lab was because its an INFINITY GEM. The blue gem, specifically, controls the mind.*Infinity Gems - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
That's why Loki smiled at Banner while he was walking by, which caused him to shake his head and rub his eyes. That's why he grabbed the staff as he was loosing control. The mind gem was taking grip and coaxing a reaction.*

Especially if Thanos is the MAIN baddy, it has to be the gem. He's all about the Infinity Gauntlet, and considering it was in Odin's trophy room in Thor... This all ties together nicely.*

I could sit here and nit pick small details myself, and I've even formed an opinion as to why things were the way they were, like Banner LOST control in the helicarrier, so it was a much more brutish, raging Hulk, while when he transformed in the streets it was a decision. Just a thought.*

I'm not up on the Marvel Mythos, but is there a character that Coulson could come back as? ( I don't think he's really, most sincerely dead ,either) I know Joss loves to kill favorite characters, but there might be an edict from Marvel that he can't be permanantly gone (one hopes).

Especially considering Thanos is in it, I've speculated that Fury might indow Coulson with the Nega Bands and he would come back as Captain Mar-Vell. They're already talking about a more cosmic movie, The Guardians of the Galaxy.

We just became the nerdiest board on the 'net.

Or they could do what they dead with the death of Captain America in the comics and have him frozen within space and time. Isn't that one of the infinity gem powers?

looks like these glasses are going to be harder to get than originally thought. They are alreading hitting Ebay.
Average prices were roughly 20.00 for a single unopened pair around 50.00 for original packaging and a full set in original packaging goes just for under 100.00

DC took Marvel to court over that whole 'nega-bands body swap thing' and won. They said it was too much like Captain Marvel.
Captain Mar-vell like Captain Marvel? Balderdash.
So that's why they killed him off. But I saw him on the Avengers cartoon last week. So he's back baby. [nobody really dies in sci-fi. Good luck for Coulson.]

I like Banners sense of humor. "WHY ARE YOU LYING TO ME!!!" "Sorry".
