and the show was so loosely based on the comic, it barely had anything to do with it.
Just like everyone else has said, this is based on the comic Hulk, not the TV show. Just like the Avengers Cap has nothing to do with Matt Sillenger's Captain America or the very Viking Thor that appeared in a Ferrigno/Bixby Hulk TV movie.Did you guys watch the original Hulk with Bixby and Ferrigno? There were some rather hulking mistakes that I couldn't belive that they made.
I think what they're implying in the film is that when Banner has a provoked Hulk episode he has no control over the 'other guy.' When Bruce (not David - that's the TV show we're they changed the name from Bruce because it was the "too gay" sounding for the late 1970's. When Banner does the Hulk thing on his own terms, he has control.4) In the Avengers, the very FIRST time that we see the Hulk, he is out of control chasing Black Widow (one of the good guys mind you), trying to kill her because she was what...there???
5) Additionally, he's destroying everything in his path as he chases her. Then AMAZINGLY when the aliens attack, Banner is suddenly confident in himself (about what he is - which David Banner never was) and has the power to turn himself into the Hulk (at will again, which Banner could NEVER do).
6) Lastly, the Hulk was all of a sudden a team player, and....COULD CONTROL HIMSELF???
If you're refering to the Avengers movie, well... they took LOTS of liberties with ALL the characters. They took so many creative liberties with the Hulk show that they may as well have called it "The angry sad man who smashes stuff"

Dave, you REALLY need to crack the pages on some Hulk trade paperbacks. The TV show was NOT the Hulk. THAT was full of "Hulking Mistakes". Hulk is nigh on invulnerable, gets stronger the angrier he gets and Bruce Banner was ALWAYS on the run. The REAL authorities knew he was still alive.Did you guys watch the original Hulk with Bixby and Ferrigno? There were some rather hulking mistakes that I couldn't belive that they made.
1) David Bruce Banner - nearly always had some sort of cover - he never went around being called Dr Banner.
2) Dr Banner was widely known as having been killed during his initial experiment (though certainly wasn't)
3) Death of the Incredible Hulk - the Hulk falls from an air plane at the end of the movie...AND DIES. The scene in Avengers was nearly a copy of that but he was fine???

:facepalm
...seriously...I could go on...
Wow, I can't believe someone is critisizing the Hulk in this movie because it was not like the old 70's tv show. I never, in my entire life, would have believed I would ever hear something like that.
When Spider-man comes out next month let's be sure we critisize it for not being like like the 70s tv show. "Spider-man is supposed to have round eyes on his mask, you should be able to see his toes thru his socked feet, he should walk bent over with his arms held out. The wall crawling is this new movie is not right--it doesn't look like he is being hauled up by a tow rope on a winch. And another thing, Spidey is supposed to just hold his hand out flat when shooting the web, which by the way, is supposed to look like a rope until the camera cut, where by then it magically transforms into a fishing net!"
