Avengers Movie SPOILER Thread

Fantastic movie.

I would have loved to see Captain America pick up Thor's hammer and hand it to him; especially after the Hulk couldn't!

The one in Stark's workshop wasn't the Vibranium one, but some kind of other prototype. I think I read somewhere that in the comics at one point Tony made a shield with some electronics in it for the Cap.

I've seen it 4 times, including the Marathon. Each audience reacted the same at the same parts, with respect to the humor Whedon put into the script. I think this speaks volumes about his writing skills. I love 3D, even though this wasn't shot in, or probably intended for it, but I have to say, the IMAX was almost too much sensory information to process. I don't feel I lost anything at the 2D showing.

loki destroys the original shield, when he conquers asgard and gains odins power and the avengers come to aid. this is also when iron man gets the suit thats made out of the same material as thors hammer.
after that, iron man makes a electronic shield that is carried as a bracelet and is kinda holographic out of the bracelet.

something like that

I was kinda hoping for a Thor/Iron Man scene like this...

I just read that IM3 and Thor 2 are next summer and that Avengers 2 could be May 16, 2014. Lots to look forward too! :)

Saw it on IMAX 3D today and had a blast from start to finish. Fun movie!! :)(y)thumbsup

Would've been hilarious in the end credits scene if...
Hugh Jackman walked in as Wolverine while they were sitting there eating. I know, I know, X-Men is with Fox. Damn, Marvel Studios needs to get the movie rights back to all their character movie franchises. This would've been great! :cool

I guess I'm the only one who thought it was meh. Ok, the Hulk had a couple of funny 3-stooges moments but that doesn't make the movie. Lesse, evil guy wants to take over the world, opens up a portal where baddies pour through. He also converts some good guys by emptying their minds or something. 'Good' guys really making weapons instead of unlimited power, unbeknownst to the Avengers. Throw in a lot of Transformers type everything blows up moments at the end. Yep, this movie was totally refreshing and new.

You should really talk to your doctor about switching up your anti-depressant meds.

lol! that would be cool.

Does that ever happen in the comics? because Cap has what it takes to hold Thors Hammer.

It has, and back in the 90's, during the DC vs Marvel series, Thor is handed his hammer by non other than Wonder Woman!

That explains the Avenger cartoon that I saw last week. Caps shield comes out of nowhere and disappears again. WTF, says I.

The reasons explained is pretty much what I thought during the first viewing of the movie.

Generally the same as my impression the 2nd time I saw it, but I don't agree with the writer that Loki's spear plays a role in making everyone in the room angry. Banner was put under Loki's spell when Loki is first escorted by SHIELD soldiers on the Helicarrier, very easy to miss this as it happened briefly at the end of that scene. I saw all the arguing as everyone already didn't get along to begin with, namely Stark and Rogers, and when you throw in Fury's dirty laundry into the mix, that just put everyone over the top, Banner more so than the rest because of the environment and Loki's spell.

Ultimately, whether the spear influenced everyone or not is NOT a big deal in the overall plot, just a minor detail that can be a point of contention among supergeeks that care about the smallest details.

I think it's obvious the spear had some effect on them. Loki touches the spear to someone's chest to brainwash them. And in the scene where they almost all go ballistic, Banner unconsciously picks up the spear, and everyone else starts drawing weapons just in case he's gone over to the other side. It's about as subtle as the way the Hulk beat Loki like a ragdoll.
