This afternoon I thought of my one complaint with the movie, and corny and cheesy as it would have been it would have been cool. At no point did Cap or Iron Man or anyone of them yell out Avengers Assemble.

I know right? I was so waiting for that to happen....but it never did.

By the way, saw it twice in two days....still awesome. And I'm almost positive that Coulson isn't dead. And I still love that last Thanos scene.

Good grief......Here we go...another group protesting something they find offensive in this film. Now India doesn't like how the slums were depicted. I think there isn't a major film made that someone out there gets offended over.

'The Avengers' criticized for India slum scenes - MSN Movies News
It's couple of people in Bollywood complaining, getting media attention and the media blowing it out of proportion. I didn't hear anyone complaining about those scenes since its release here from two week back. In fact people liked that scene for showing India in some capacity, including the ending montage scenes (that included people from India) cheering for Avengers.

Were these people who complained expecting Banner to be shown visiting Taj Mahal or the beautiful streets of Calcutta? These people clearly don't understand the reasoning for that slum storyline. Banner is in hiding and needs to avoid the main city. And then there is the follow up scene when he is made to travel further out again to the more dingy part of the city.

"Bruce Banner: You brought me to the edge of the city, smart. I uh...assume the whole place is surrounded?"

"Dear India: Sorry about that. Next time we'll build the set here, which will cost less than transporting everyone to your slums (your term) in the first place."
Ha..yeah that's what they did and shot it entirely in New Mexico instead of real Calcutta. When they announced shooting India scenes last year I was hoping they would shoot in India like The Dark Knight Rises did. (now I wonder if some people will complain something about that too).

At least there are others in Bollywood like actress Neha Dhupia who said it more better. "It is disturbing to see the murky underbelly of India in Hollywood films. But before pointing it out to the West, we need to make efforts to change their perception about us."

Funny, I didn't see the same complaints when Slumdog Millionaire came out!
Good Point. Some people did complain about Slumdog Millionaire here, but not about the slums but on how it was overrated and not Oscar worthy. I would agree, even though I enjoyed the film.

I guess I'm the only one who thought it was meh. Ok, the Hulk had a couple of funny 3-stooges moments but that doesn't make the movie. Lesse, evil guy wants to take over the world, opens up a portal where baddies pour through. He also converts some good guys by emptying their minds or something. 'Good' guys really making weapons instead of unlimited power, unbeknownst to the Avengers. Throw in a lot of Transformers type everything blows up moments at the end. Yep, this movie was totally refreshing and new.

Too bad you didn't enjoy it. I think if we sum up every good movie's plot and narration into basic two or three sentences like that, it could end up sounding pretty abysmal. Of course they really aren't like that and go more deeper than that. But as they say each to their own.

Saw The Avengers for the third time, still so much fun. I can't wait to see the extended cut on Blu-ray with more Cap footage.

If there is an extended cut (WHICH I TOTALLY WANT!). Even if there isn't going to be an extended cut, I hope to the gods that Joss Whedon does a commentary track for the film. He's one of five directors who can not only do an informative commentary track, but also make it very entertaining. I fear Marvel will pull it from the DVD/BluRay in an effort to release it as quickly as possible just as they did with the first Iron Man movie (Jon Favreau recorded one for the first movie, but wasn't included).

Yeah the definitive edition may not end up being part of the early release. But 30 minutes of deleted footage has already been confirmed by Whedon, which should roll out eventually hopefully along with his commentary.

We went and saw it again yesterday (second time for me, third for the hubby) and hit up a 3D showing this time.

I absolutely love the movie, but I have to say I still really dislike 3D. I think a few the instances we have with people missing stuff can partially be attributed to the fact that detail fuzzes out during action sequences in 3D. There were a couple moments where I thought the 3D added a little something to the sequences (like the first serpent FAV coming down through the portal), but other than that, I much prefer 2D.

I read The Avengers (2012) - Trivia - IMDb

-Lou Ferrigno voices the Hulk in this film.

-Mark Ruffalo is personally going to portray the Hulk through virtual-camera motion-capture, which allows him to actually portray the Hulk. [did he?]

-According to director Joss Whedon, The original cut of the movie was over 3 hours long. There will be about 30 minutes of the excised footage included in the DVD Release, most of which revolves around Steve Rogers (Captain America). Whedon revealed that one of these scenes involved Rogers struggling to adjust to the modern world in his Brooklyn apartment and another revealed Steve Rogers' reunion with Peggy Carter.

- [they were fighting the Skrulls!] The Chitauri appear in the first story arc of The Ultimates. Their leader claims that they go by many names, including Skrulls.
---
There is a scene part way through credits: Marvel Character Thanos appears with The Red Skull by his side. [I missed Red Skull. Skull and Skrulls!]

How did Captain America get his shield back? His shield was in Tony Stark's garage in Iron Man 2

No, a partiallly completed prototype was. Just an Easter egg by Jon Favreau. If you remember in Captain America his shield was frozen with him.
