Hello!
I was very excited to see that Avatar is already
available today on DVD.

What versions are out there??

Will there be with glasses a 3D Version?? (I have a 12' foot screen and would love it!) Movie party anyone?>

Will the extras be anything exciting?

What goodies besides a doll come with the various sets?

Sounds like I may have to get a blueray player just for this!!!!!!!

Let's talk AVATAR!!!!!!!

Best Wishes
Tom

That's weird to be a movie release date on a Thrusday, typically movies release on Tuesdays and games release on thursdays.

But the Ultimate edition is said to be released in November

May be poor rated due to special features, but they wanted to release it NOW while the iron was hot.

This is a basic release with minimal menus and no big features, but fully utilizing the space of the disc to present the film in the best quality it can be for Blu-Ray.

In the interview they go on to explain that November will see the "Pandora" box set or something (official name pending) will be an ALL-NEW features (not on the net previously released) and expected to be 4-discs more centralized for the Blu-Ray folks. Additionally they are working for the next 5-6 months on rendering additional scenes for the release, but they do say THIS one is Cameron's Director's cut. The extension of additional scenes is more for the fans.

I pre-ordered through Amazon and got shipping confirmation today. I'm really looking forward to watching this on Blu-Ray.

Basic edition now and bigger, more extended edition later in the year. I would guess you would need a 3-D TV for the eventual 3-D version. I mean if they can put out a 3-D version with glasses packed in that works on any TV, what's the point of these 3-D TV's that are now coming out? Personally I want to see it again and will probably pick this version up anyway. You know this will be released many times over the next few years. It's the biggest movie of all time - money wise that is.

I'll get it today - and in November when it comes out again I probably won't pony up another $30 bucks for 6 minutes of extended scenes.

My understanding is as Neinnumb says. This is a 'get it out there now' version pretty much sans extras. There is no 3D at this time. I was under the impression that was coming in November in the box set or along side it or something.

I can't imagine it'd be a 3D with packed in glasses. The way I heard it was a 3D blu-ray meaning you'll need a compatible TV, BR player, and glasses.
