Re: Assassins Creed Film
That's where much of my opinion on Fassbender comes from. And it's why I think Eric Balfour would work. If you've ever seen Secondhand Lions, he's the Sheik's Grandson, and actually has the ability to pull off a person of middle-eastern descent.
100% agreed. He 100% looks the part.
But can he act/Carry a movie on his own? And will people see it.......
My bet is studios will not agree. Same thing w/John Rhys Meyers (Guy from "To Paris...." & "The Tudors"). He looks the part VERY MUCH. I could see him playing a perfectly LOOKING Altair or Ezio. But, would people see it?
Look, he already has the hooded look down. :rolleyes
But the difference is Michael Fassbender equals money. Maybe not boatloads of money, but much more money and name recognition than either of the two we are talking about. In a perfect world, the actor that looks just like the already conceived role would be perfect. They could act, people would care about them, or just wouldn't care about star power.
But they do. Fassbender has much more power attached to his name than either Balfour or Rhys Meyer. I agree, they perfectly look the part, and are fine actors. But unless you can have some other big time actor take a role opposite Balfour or Rhys Meyers (Anthony Hopkins, Ian Mckellen or someone of similar stature), I don't think studios will cast someone like that, because they won't make money.
