Assassin's Creed Movie (Post-release)

Re: Assassins Creed Film

Meh. I wasn't a fan of the whole "Ancestor-in-the-future" part of the story. Why couldn't they just make a story about a linage of assassins? I felt it was along the same lines as a "dream" or "simulation" where it really doesn't matter in the end. I doubt the transition to film will make it any better.

Re: Assassins Creed Film

I love Fassbender but definitely can't see him in this role. Now Fassbender as James Bond, yes!

Re: Assassins Creed Film

Yea, Fassbender isn't the right choice for the role. But I guess he's paying for the movie, so he can do whatever he wants. I swear though, if nobody complains about Arian Altair/Ezio I'll be pretty disappointed in the human race. The same human race that bemoaned the perfectly cast Jake Gyllenhal in the PoP movie. And yea, despite not being Persian or even Persian-ish, he was perfectly cast for that character.

I don't even think they'd have to cast middle eastern or Italian for the character so long as the actor can pull it off, but Fassbender looks nothing like either of them.

That's where much of my opinion on Fassbender comes from. And it's why I think Eric Balfour would work. If you've ever seen Secondhand Lions, he's the Sheik's Grandson, and actually has the ability to pull off a person of middle-eastern descent.

100% agreed. He 100% looks the part.

But can he act/Carry a movie on his own? And will people see it.......

My bet is studios will not agree. Same thing w/John Rhys Meyers (Guy from "To Paris...." & "The Tudors"). He looks the part VERY MUCH. I could see him playing a perfectly LOOKING Altair or Ezio. But, would people see it?

Look, he already has the hooded look down. :rolleyes

But the difference is Michael Fassbender equals money. Maybe not boatloads of money, but much more money and name recognition than either of the two we are talking about. In a perfect world, the actor that looks just like the already conceived role would be perfect. They could act, people would care about them, or just wouldn't care about star power.

But they do. Fassbender has much more power attached to his name than either Balfour or Rhys Meyer. I agree, they perfectly look the part, and are fine actors. But unless you can have some other big time actor take a role opposite Balfour or Rhys Meyers (Anthony Hopkins, Ian Mckellen or someone of similar stature), I don't think studios will cast someone like that, because they won't make money.

Re: Assassins Creed Film

I'd like to see this feature a new assassin, maybe pick up after the end of AC3 as they left that wide open. I have to say the live action short they made "Ascension" was really good for the most part so if done right I could see it work.

Assassins Creed 2015

Summer of 2015 is going to be epic for movies!

"There’s been a killer addition to the Summer of 2015. Assassin’s Creed, based on the popular Ubisoft video game series, will hit theaters on May 22, 2015. 20th Century Fox is now on board the project which, at this point, only has Michael Fassbender attached to play Desmond Miles, the descendant of a long line of assassins who can relive the memories of his ancestors."

Re: Assassins Creed 2015

Looking foward to it!! Hope they do Altair's story but I'm guessing they'll jump around history much more.

Re: Assassins Creed 2015

I'd really like to see a combination of all the games but I'm sure it will have its own film spin on it

Re: Assassins Creed 2015

I am wondering why those chose Desmond given the ending of the 3rd game.

Re: Assassins Creed 2015

Probably. It'll probably fill in a lot more gaps. This could be a very expensive film to make just in regards to sets and costumes.

Re: Assassins Creed 2015

I really wish they'd do a story other than Desmond though. He's bland and has barely any character progression. In fact, the way he gets used constantly feels identical to Anakin in the Star Wars prequels. He's a blank slate. That's great for a game, but crap for a movie. Besides, Fassbender does not seem like a good Desmond. He's kind of a bro, really.
