Assassin's Creed 2 Full Build WIP (VERY pic heavy)

Saw you mention your thread on the "oddball" thread, so here I am. Love Ezio's outfits. Keep it up, I'll toss in comments where I can.

lol thanks for the post! hope to have some updates up this weekend... Im working on the pauldron... sadly, I cant afford 2 big chunks of leather that size right now so I went with leatherette (vinyl) over foam... Hope it turns out ok...

Also, anyone suggest a good fabric for the main outfit? I want it to look like it has weight, but I want it to breathe a bit... I'm a big guy (6'2" and extra wide...lol) so I dont want to overheat and pass out lol

Thanks for looking!

Over in a discussion about TP Link's tunic I saw some people suggest gabardine as a good fabric for Ezio. I'd also think linen or wool (the kind used for suits) would work well for the red sections, since those two fabrics were very popular in Renaissance Italy.

I'm wondering what to use for the red sash/belt area... it seems to be a flashy part so I wasnt sure if I should use a flat color material like linen or a shiny material like silk or satin for the red sash...

I'm thinking the accent colors at the tips (like the grey in the image I will post) will be satin

I was thinking linen or duck canvas for the main black parts...

let me know your thoughts

I'd love to post a longer reply, but I'm on my phone. In short, your work so far is amazing! In regards to the black parts, those are wool gabardine.

I personally wouldn't do anything shiny for the red. A lot of people do that and their costumes turn out very odd looking. I don't know off the top of my head what to do for it though...I'll edit this post if I think of anything besides "not satin/silk".

Hey all, thanks for the tips... I don't often believe Wikipedia but they say gabardine weave was not made until the 1800s... Not exactly period accurate but heck, I'm not trying to be 100%... I just want to make sure it's not semi transparent or anything lol

Huh, that's surprising, it looks like gabardine in the high res shots. Maybe twill, or would that fall under the same category?

Gabardine is basically an evolution of whatever wool fabric was used back then. Also, I highly doubt Ubisoft modeled his clothing on historic fabrics, considering they had a hard enough time making it period accurate otherwise.

You'd actually be surprised how in depth Ubisoft gets with their costumes. All the others are period (and location) accurate.

If you look at these two spics:

You can see that it's got a bit of a diagonal weave to it, but based on the center of the hood, it could just look that way because of his posture. If you assume that diagonal weaves hadn't been invented yet and you go with straight, it looks the most like a gauze (way too light) or possibly a raw silk. Raw silk would be pretty expensive, but it would look pretty darn cool.

Thanks Risu, I'll look into it soon! Also, I know how in depth they can get lol. I applied for a job there last year... Still no reply lol... I went to school for 3d animation and post production but sadly they weren't hiring at the time... I wanted so bad to work on black flag... Oh well I get to make this outfit instead...

;)

Hey Guys and Gals,

Some updates to the progress... need to take more pics but these are what I have available right now:

This is the belt buckle pre-weathering (except the top bit, it's been weathered already)

And post weathering:

And with some clever pinholing, I managed to transfer the AC logo to the leather to be embossed into it

Keep in mind, the leather will be dyed black so you wont see the dots...

I will try to upload more pics of the piece once it is dried... the embossing is more visible

Hope you like!

this looks so awesome! i just finished an iron man mark vi suit im looking forward in doing an assassin creed outfit! keep up the good work i love it.

Ok guys, i'm not sure if I have posted any pics of the bracer completely done, weathering, aged etc with all the "metal" parts attached or not, so here it is...

Also, I have taken a few pics of the shoulder guard/Pauldron now that I finished it (more or less lol)

I want to change/adjust the strings and attach them differently but I will do that another time... for now, I like it... I may end up re-casting the bird clip on the front as I'm an idiot and set up the hooks to attach so the bird is facing down.. it should be facing up... sadly, the hooks that attach the bird to the rings on the front are embedded in the plastic when I cast it... I also dont like the way the strings attached to the bird... I'm gonna redo the front one, but again, it will do for now (I have so much more that needs doing...

So here are some pics:

I also have one of me wearing it but I haven't uploaded it...

I have to be honest... I'm a big guy... (as in I don't look good in a dress unless it's made by the local tent maker lol...) and I'm not too keen on showing myself in this stuff with only a piece here or there as I think I look a little silly... assassins are supposed to be athletic well toned people... I am neither... I'm a computer tech support nerd who loves costuming...

So maybe in the future... we will see

Thanks for looking!
