Art Asylum Enterprise Phase Pistol & Communicator set

Years ago (Around the time the Star Trek Experience was in Hyde Park) I bought an Enterprise phase pistol and communicator, the phase pistol stopped working many years ago (Not battery related) and the communicator has been lost over the years. I'm wanting to re-purchase them as props for a filming project i'm going to be doing, however I can't seem to find them anywhere for a.. Reasonable price, aside from here: Star Trek Toys, Action Figures and Collectibles by Playmates Toys-Enterpris but the site doesn't look that.. Legitimate.

Does anybody know where i could get hold of one of these sets? Or whether the above site is reputable?

I'm sure the site is legitimate, however $50 seems a tad high.
Believe it or not, I see these Art Asylum sets for sale for $35-40 at a few local hobby shops I frequent in Toronto(not that it would help you).
I wouldn't by the set for $50 though...unless you really want it.

The prices on these sets fluctuate a lot. I've seen them sell for as low as $30 a few years ago up to prices over $100. It's also important to note that there are 2 versions of this set. The original release is two toned silver and grey, while the second release is two toned silver (dark and light). During production they originally forgot a layer of paint, which is why the first release has the grey. I've had both sets and if you can get the second release, they are much more accurate and appealing, color wise.

I was looking a while back... the only ones I really found were on amazon and people were asking INSANE amounts for the set... over $200!

The second (two tone silver, no grey) release also has a slight refinement to the mechanisms for the power cell lighting and hood latch. They work a lot better in that version.

They're almost impossible to find here in the UK. I was bidding on one yesterday that went from £12.99 (It's starting price, 1 bid over 2 days) to £31.00 in the last few minutes.

Would there be any possibility of you mailing me one? I don't know what price + postage would be like though, but if it's cheaper/a bit more, but guaranteed the better set then it would certainly be worth considering...

Well, $60-$100 is actually a decent price based on what's currently available.
Even the kits, unassembled, from Roddenberry.com are approximately $200.

My recommendation to you is to wait patiently, keep looking and you will eventually find a set. I'm sure you want it ASAP, but you could end up paying more money.

This weekend I will be going to a local flea market to a store where I remember seeing a set. I will give you details on which generation release it is, re: above mentioned post by Trekker670 post #3.

Is there any way of knowing, which generation it is?
It might be hard if you don't have pictures of the 2 versions side-by-side.
Colouring may be hard to determine.

I have a set in the attic still in the box. I can dig out tonight when I get home and take some pictures to see if it's what you're looking for. If you want.

It is very easy to tell, as the set is packed in a window box. Basically, just look for any visible flat grey plastic. The tip and rear of the Phase pistol upper body, and the button/lid of the communicator will all be grey on the original, and all will be silver on the correction.

Yes, thank you. It's great that you were able to provide picture. That's exactly difference I needed to see. I'll have another look this weekend at the one I say for sale.

Just saw this on Ebay if you're still looking.[LINK REMOVED]

I was lucky enough to snag one all those months ago when they were first originally released, from DST themselves (I frequent other forums) they have no intention of redoing, retooling or reproductions on any Enterprise item... which is a shame really, because I have seen a bit of interest in some of the older former items.

Needless to say good luck on your hunt :)

Sorry to necro-post but I wanted to know if anyone out there has the second release of the Phase pistol and communicator (Silver on silver pistol) they'd be willing to part with?
