is their a guide on how to measure oneself so i can adjust templates? I will be using foam so i guess i will have to add that in to the measurements?

You should messure yourself and change scale of each part to your dimensions. For adjusting proper scale I recommend using Pepakura Designer option "Measure Distance between Two Points". Just use files for foam and you don't have to add anything extra.
Luckily I'm 6'3" and default scale was perfect for me.
