Well Kevin. It is quite a complement to say that the store bought helmet is the only thing that looks slightly off. Everything else is absolutely spot on. Have you considered going back and altering it? I will make one of these one day and helmets are so hard to fabricate.
Yours seems like the perfect base to use.

For the time being I'm going to leave the helmet, however I think I will save my pennies (err... nickles now in Canada :lol) and buy one of those reproduction LEVA helmets.

I so love this thread, Hi, First time poster. I've started making one of these for myself and came across this thread and was thrilled to see I'm on the right track. What did you use to make the neckring out of?

Hi Mark,

The neck ring was made with a plastic bucket similar to this:

So basically I cut the top inch off the bucket for the ring, sanded it smooth, and sprayed it metallic red.
