Anyone have a NextEngine 3D scanner?

I was looking at Jay Leno's Garage and saw the NextEngine 3D scanner.

I can see some real uses in hobby for this tech. Sculpt, modify, and produce much easier than before...

The scanner is $3k and produces the files needed for 3D printers and CNC machines.

I used laser scanners at work over 14 years ago. It's really cool technology. The stuff I used was not nearly so compact as that unit.

no but i have used all of the 3d measureing tools produced by FARO. they are higher end than the nextengine but really cool. (disclamer i used to work for FARO)

that video will give you an idea of all of the crazy stuff they have. however chances are most people wont be able to afford this crap lol
