Anti-Cyberman Gun

My good friend Mike J. did some overlay graphics on the Nerf gun. from here your Imagination and creativity can take over.

Thanks Mike.

Yeah that would probably be better and easier for me. Okay, I'm going to go with that one! Thank so much for your help! c:
As for my budget I don't want to spend too much, but right now I was thinking maybe $100-$200.

Oh wow! That's great! That really helps me visualize the end result! Very grateful for that!

Your very welcome Laain. I'm starting to want one of these myself. lol and I will lend all the support and suggestion's I can think of. but just creating a foam cylinder for the front has got me a little stumped. but I'm sure once you get started. there will be more of our RPF friend's that will lend more help and advice. and just keep looking around at some gun project's on the board. a lot of them use material's that would be easy for you to work with. and you could use this as a build thread. or start a new one.

Where here to help....

The barrel could possibly be done using a foam roller for exercise and stuff like that. I don't know if it would be suitable as a base but it may be worth a look.

That's a good idea Mr Mcgoo. whatever Is used I would think would have to have some type of support structure to the main base gun barrel. maybe two end peaces on each side of the cylinder connected to the base gun barrel for support.

I think I would start with some 4 inch or 6 inch PVC pipe for the barrel. Two end caps could be made out of wood, which would give you good mounting points for the base gun. I also think the details around the barrel look a little like a wooden "honey dipper". Here's an image so you can get an idea.

It's not perfect, but with a little shaping it could be a good start. They also come in multiple shapes so you can probably find one with a closer profile.

Greta Idea's. but I don't think the OP has the tools or experience with wood. just learned of a material yesterday. worbla I believe It's called. can be cut with scissors and formed. but would require a heat gun. and the honey dipper's are an awesome Idea also 13doctorwho. trying to think of easy materials to work with. without power tool's.

sean: Haha, yeah? It definitely seems like a cool thing to own. As for the foam cylinder I was thinking of maybe using insulation foam, the blue or pink kind, and cut out several circles and build it up to the larger cylinder. Think that would work? and okay, I'll be sure to look around the site more for things that I could use.

Mr Mcgoo: Ooo, interesting. I'll have to check that out. That might work, not sure I'll just have to look into it. I didn't even know that kind even existed lol. Thanks!

13doctorwho: Yeah sean is right I do not have the tools or the experience working with wood. But that honey dipper idea is good! I could probably find a way to use that.

Insulation circle's could work I would think. one big question please Laain. will this be a sit on the shelf prop. or a cosplay kind of deal?

Okay! It will sit on the shelf for the most part, but I do plan on using it for cosplay a time or two.

Well then we have to consider stability on that front part. maybe sandwiched between your foam circle's could be something thin and ridged. just a thought..

Okay, yeah you're right I need something there. Maybe a pre-cut piece of wood from the craft store or something like that?

I was thinking something maybe you could do yourself. don't think It has to necessarily be wood. but for the moment let's just say card board.

I would make more than one and cut them In the center to fit to your plastic front barrel. and just make sandwiches of that and circle's of your Styrofoam . as a visual I will say like a stack of pancake's. make any sense?

I have to say this is awfully ambitious. Do you have a convention or something you're preparing for? I'm not sure how sturdy foam and cardboard will be lugging it around as a cosplay.

I was using card board as a hypothetical. and the out side of the cylinder can be strengthened with something. welcome any help and suggestion's. but without power tools and stronger materials I'm just trying to think outside the box ...

sean: lol, that's why I said from the craft store. The craft store should have some wood that I can just sand down to size if it even needs that. I see though. I'm sure I'll find something.
Haha, that's good enough to get your point across and I see what you're talking about.

13doctorwho: I have a year before I plan on using it as a cosplay.

lol, yeah we could do that. haha.

Anyway, what do you think about popsicle sticks? Think that would work for making it a bit more sturdy?
