Anovos Stormtrooper.... thoughts?

LOL! sorry I'm just disappointed since they stated they had access and scanned original parts, how can they screw this up!!!

Great price for those who got it at $350 not so at $650, there's more accurate troopers available out there, BTW did they ever mentioned thickness of plastic? hopefully it's thick enough to withstand trooping.

You're like me, just I'm all about the snowtroopers. Read the same thing about 3D scanning/printing from the Tour suit...Granted, I've yet to see any final production parts, but read they're modifying an "existing" suit..

Well if anyone decides they don't want theirs please let me know and I will buy it from you. I think they are awesome and missed out when they were $350.

Do you,...do any of us???? Who are we really???? Literally I could be anybody. Spiritually who are any of us???? Like sands through the hour glass these are the props of our lives.

timeline gone. never happened..

These guys have the keys to the kingdom so I understand the disappointment with accuracy. All the ones before have had to work with what they were given. I've got a set of gf armor and will probably never part with it despite its shortcomings.

heres the mini landscape. GF original sculpted armor was recasted by FX and is now current to Star Wars Rebels show...GF type 2 was first signifcant LFL lawsuit. I have 2 sets. one a luke hero. and one a special repaint to be revealed at SDCC. TE lineage suits are everywhere. AA has its own thread. CFO is best ROTJ. RS first run in ABS w HDPE helmet best movie stunt replica. TM best currently available hero suit.....GINO. .....well.... WTF best currently available....heres the rub....those of us who have been around since the days of MARCO ENTERPRISES know all the history....YOU NOOBIES....want to be a stormtrooper for cheap or dress up in a movie prop replica costume? MAKE YOUR CHOICE CAUSE YOU CANT HAVE BOTH...All the makers suits are great. Remember when the bumpy cap was thought to be ugly so someone smoothed it out? you wanted sharper pulls....Dan Laws provided them.... want a suit to get drunk in for halloween....get a rubies...... I got an Anovos for 350 for that. Troopers. do your research. figure out what you want, and buy it. and STOP BITCHING. not everyone one has an army of suits like a few of us. remember a white sweatsuit from walmart and a cheap halloween mask will make you a stormtrooper to most people.

this is the internet. bitching is what we do...along with trying to make the aborted sound of a word 'bruh' into a thing. ;o).

personally, if the anovos looks jsut as good completed and displayed as what we see on screen, I could care less about inaccuracies. just so long as it LOOKS right at first glance.

GF you're making an assumption on the plastic being thin based on what? Have you personally inspected one of these suits?

To his defense, many people have speculated that the plastic has to be thin to produce such sharp lines.

I think that the pictures we've seen in the last email are misleading. The pulls aren't as sharp as they look, the lighting is giving us that impression. The test pull they showed at SDCC wasn't especially sharp so I think that while it is a sharp pull, it's not as sharp as people think. But that's an opinion, it only comes from my personal experience, from being obsessed and reading all about this stuff for months now.

The first time we met, I actually tracked Clutch down through a friend at a local convention. Just because I heard there was a set of GF armor with a hero helmet amongst the HUGE crowd of FX 501st...

Man, that was long ago!

On their FB page, Anovos says that pieces with lots of small details are 0.060" thick (or 1.5 mm) while the others are 0.090" thick (or 2,3 mm). So not thin at all as it turns out...

No need to see it in person, I have enough experience in vacuumforming and handling abs plastic, I don't know if that face plate is just a prototype or a actual production piece but from what I see in that photo that face plate pull is no more than .60 gauge, it's impossible to get such sharp pulls in 90 gauge, you have to remember that plastic forms over positive molds, even if mold is super sharp or even exaggerated the edges can't be that square/sharp with 90 gauge, you can make deeper details so plastic will suck deeper but edges/corners will still be rounded at 90 gauge. its also possible they went thinner for helmet and thicker for most of the armor parts.

good old times, that was fun and frustrating at times with the AFX / GF recast fiasco lol!

Also if you look closely in the cavity were the mic tip go you can see the plastic is all wrinkled/ crushed, plastic thins out quite a bit in that area and gets crushed/damaged when pulling off from molds because of the major undercuts, can actually be minimized if you know what your doing.

I'm very interested to see what the stormtroopers will look like from the new Rogue One movie coming out in Dec 2016.
...

We have seen official merchandise used in movies before. I would not be surprised to see the costuming department use readily available trooper costumes in the future.
