ANOVOS issues (ANOVOS ONLY discussion)

Most pre-orders were offered at a lower price point going all the way back to the Stormtrooper kit.

I’ve had my problems now with Anovos and I’m done. I’ve emailed them over and over asking where my stuff was when I was told it was going to be delivered around Christmas. I had no idea they were this awful! I bought a Star Trek Into Darkness uniform a couple of years ago and it came in quick and the product was top notch! But my latest order has been a no show! They now list it as “Unavailable” and I’m afraid I’m out two hundred bucks! As I’ve said, I tried being nice by emailing them and have had no response. That’s when I started checking to see if anyone else has had these problems. Here I am getting ticked off because I’ve been waiting over a month for my Star Trek baseball uniform and here some of you guys are waiting YEARS for your stuff! That’s just not right! It’s apparent Anovos doesn’t give a crap what we think, so I was curious what their license holders would think. So I contacted CBS and left a message for their licensing team. I was called back within five minutes! I talked to this gentleman named Steve. I explained everything I’ve gone through, what I’ve seen others go through put him on track to where he could do his own research on the matter. I also reminded him that this isn’t just Anovos’ problem, it’s also CBS’ as their name is on these products. He thourghly agreed that it was a problem! He asked me to email them and provide any documentation I might have. I did and received an email earlier this afternoon from CBS thanking me for the info and that they are opening an investigation into Anovos. I’ve also emailed the folks at Disney, giving them the heads up as well. But I think that’s what it’s going to take. Anovos got the rights to sell these companys’ IP, but they are treating it like crap. If Anovos can’t handle the business, then the other companies should give the license to those who can.

Hello,

Just got the FOTK update.

I am on the interest list, so hopefully I get in on that. I have an OT kit from them and I think its great. I have only pre ordered the LJ FO helmet which has been delayed a few times, but everything else I've gotten has been an in stock item and I have gotten it quickly. Hopefully these kits will be great and get them back on track.

Great update, if it is to be believed. The problem is, if Anovos provided these kinds of detailed and informative updates throughout the process (and didn't always seem to have multiple delays producing everything) their customers would probably be a lot more patient and refrain from cancelling orders.

Holy crap! I just went back to check the Anovos page for updates on my Han Force Awakens jacket... Of course it's listed as "Not Available" and a link to be added to teh interested list is there. But, more surprisingly... the price is shown at $800. I paid $500 for mine when the pre-order was active 2 years ago. That's strange... Not sure what to make of it.

Cheers
Steve

Not saying that anyone is actually doing this, just floating a thought - There could be a business model in 1) get a bunch of pre-orders at a low price to fund development and production; 2) Delay production and extend shipping deadlines to cause most of those pre-orders cancel; 3) Offer a "second run", which includes product produced in the "first run" even if it may or may not include additional production, at a now higher price. A few very patient people would probably get their first run orders at the initial price (so, technically, can claim delivery on first wave offering) but most first wave production would actually be sold in the second wave at the higher price.

Here's the latest on my Force Awakens jacket.
To recap - on August 21, 2018 I received an email stating that they had final approvals in process and they expected to ship Summer 2018. They also noted that they "appreciated my patience" LOL.

On January 16th, 2019 I replied to that August 2018 e-mail.

Later that day I received notice that a support ticket was opened and that they would get back to me. Since then... nothing.
Today I received this...

Needless to having received no response say I decided to rate my service. This is what happened when I clicked the link...

Oops... It looks like they responded in another e-mail for some reason.
Anovos Excuse.png

Funny enough - this is not even a response as it's information I already knew.
I did respond to this and asked why Anovos did not notify me via e-mail of this latest delay like their website (AND HIS OWN E-MAIL) says tehy are supposed to?

It's almost comical now.

^^^^^

Anovos long ago turned into shuck and jive artists, this is just further proof of that....

I have to admit, as someone who has held out the longest giving them leeway and being understanding about the sometimes impossible realities of dealing with manufacturing in China when you're a small outfit looking for high quality, my patience too is starting to fray because of the lack of updates. The amount of money I have tied up in pre-orders right now isn't funny.

If they are having troubles, fine. It happens. If things take way longer, no worries really... just TELL PEOPLE ABOUT IT in something like an HONEST, straight-forward message that at least reads as if a human being had written it, instead of the corporate-sounding deflection messages.

Hello,

Just got the FOTK update.

The pulls look fantastic. Makes you wonder... Episode 9 has been filming these last few months... and Anovos did the promo suits for the other films... maybe they've been secretly contracted to do the screen-used armor and that is the reason for all the silence and delays...

On the FO order i was puzzled by their timeline....start shipping in a couple weeks and then we'l stop TWO MONTHS(???) for the chinese new year. Why in the hell does that force a TWO MONTH stoppage?

Because like always they don't have the money to ship an actual run. They just ship a few items here and there.

My guess would be that once the factories in China stark manufacturing again (mid-late Feb?) they will prioritize all the 'big' players' items before they move on to finishing up things by companies like Anovos, so they just have to wait. (I'm guessing most would rather keep Nike happy than Anovos.)

It's probably also the reason why most things made by Anovos is constantly delayed. Imagine the floor of the factory and the following spoken in Chinese: "Hey Boss, we just got a HUGE order from Company X that needs 1 million pairs of Z in two months. Should I keep trying to fix these stupid 'accuracy' detail issues these Anovos people keep complaining about, even though we can't really see the difference, so that we can send out 100 pieces, or should I put their stuff on hold and make the stuff Company X wants first to keep them happy?"

I remember when Steve of Master Replicas used to tell manufacturing horror stories about how they got treated by the manufacturers in Asia they had to deal with. Many times they just got brushed off. It's enough to look at Alibaba to see what kinds of 'minimum volumes' most manufacturers demand.

All of that still doesn't excuse the poor flow of information coming from Anovos about the delays of course. If they had just kept everyone informed, even if they were just deferring blame, people would be more understanding.
