ANOVOS issues (ANOVOS ONLY discussion)

What's the difference between an opinion and a false statement?

For the purposes of this discussion, an opinion is a member expressing a belief or position.... such as "I hate broccoli." A false statement is a member posting something as if it were factually accurate that is easily proved false... such as "the sun is made of puppies." Please don't try to be coy, look for loopholes, or test us on this point.

Ten days away from the end of the "Fall Shipping Calendar" and no word about the Luke helmet or FO Trooper armor. Has anyone else noticed that Anovos seems to be having a LOT of "30% Off" sales? It's usually for in stock Star Wars merchandise. Meanwhile, soft goods - like trooper neck seals - are only available in one size, which makes it seem as if they aren't restocking them.

Several posts from within the past 4 days have been edited or outright removed. You are welcome to post your experiences and opinion but posting false statements as fact or attempting to drum up a personal attack is not acceptable here.

Art, in the end, we all agree with you. And thank you for cleaning up this thread. But facts are what we are having a problem with. For instance, note these two separate updates from Anovos. And this is just one example: In March, we are told that an item is finished and the message flat out incorporates an arrival to fulfillment of about 2 weeks. But wait!!! - the September update all of a sudden says that no one is waiting for anything because the manufacturer has not sent them. Additionally, it is implied that transit time is now either longer or much more of an obstacle. If this company wants calm, cooperative, supportive, and mature behavior from customers who then might be glad to wait for quality it needs to step way up (right now on Dec. 11, 2018) and make public announcements that are completely true, informative, and do not attack US as ignorant with the condescending use of glaringly upbeat tones and wordy garnish so as to string us along through demonstrated inconsistencies. There is no one at LFL or Disney making Anovos write the embarrassing contradiction that follows.

Note: I just looked back at the Anovos site and, even worse, SOMEONE WENT BACK TO THE MARCH UPDATE AND CHANGED IT SO THAT IT WOULD NOT LOOK SO BAD UP AGAINST THE SEPTEMBER UPDATE. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here are the original posts as of until very recently:

Latest Update: September 4th, 2018

  • The production of these items has been completed this season. We are awaiting notification from our manufacturer as to when these ensembles will be loaded upon a ship to be delivered to us, a journey that may take several weeks. As it is unlikely that these items will arrive to our Fulfillment Center prior to the end of the Summer season due to this transit time, this ensemble is currently on track to ship Fall 2018. Once I have a firm date that shipping to customers will begin, I will notify you in a separate update.

    • March 9th, 2018
  • This item has completed production. We are currently awaiting these items to arrive to our fulfillment center and anticipate shipping to customers to begin in late March and continue through April. We are moving this item to Spring 2018 on the shipping calendar to reflect this.

Obviously, updates like this can mean only that people at the top do not know what is going on entirely or that they are lying. Or a combination. I am not making an accusation here at all - these are just the only two options.

I am seriously curious how a company like Lucasfilm/Disney would award a license to produce replicas of their material, despite the fact they have such a bad reputation of providing what they promise or offer, you would think that a company as powerful and omnipresent as Lucasfilm/Disney would have withdrawn their approval and licensing after everything that's been said on the Better Business Bureau and everything else that has come to light as far as complaints are concerned since the company has held the license. Just wondering honestly.

Yes, through all of this thread and everything else that has gone on, this is exactly what baffles me.

From my experience the Better Business Bureau is not really relevant anymore and holds little to no power to really affect said business. Reporting someone to it just falls on deaf ears. Yelp and other review sites have done more to help bolster or dismantle a business than the BBB. Regardless Disney/ Lucasfilm would be wise to consider the actions of Anovos and their practices before they renew their license with them or consider breaking their contract with them altogether. Perhaps when the numbers are reported as long as they are in the red they don't care what Anovos does. Who knows? I'm sure the contracts between the two have all kinds of layers and stipulations that we will never know.

It honestly baffles me that Anovos has had it this long though. What is it with these companies not being able to deliver on product, etc? Every single one has had some major issues that always was their downfall. Is this franchise just TOO big a property for any business to handle? It's one thing for Hasbro/ Kenner to make plastic toys because they don't have to be exacting replicas. I've seen small mom and pop companies coming out of the woodwork to make Star Wars props and costumes, often times folding within a short time frame because they just can't keep up the quality due to overwhelming demand. I don't suspect that Anovos will be holding the license for too much longer, though Disney seems to have a habit of doubling down on bad decisions so who knows?

There was a rumor going around a month or so back that they were going to (or already have) lost the SW license.

I'm not sure what is really going on but I have some things on pre-order with them and hope I see them before they go under or anything.

In all fairness, MR did a great job delivering product.

Anovos built their whole business on a house of cards where one pre-order would pay for the next release. It's the equivalent of having a line of people at McDonalds and you have the person behind you pay for your order; problem is at some point you run out of other peoples money and people.

Anovos also when they started had a pre-order every other day, overextending themselves and I feel a sign they see the community as a cash register. Bring in a huge amount of money quickly and then ship whenever.

It seems odd that they haven't had a new release in quite sometime or for any of the SW movies that have come out lately. Anovos also seems to be blowing out their stock with sales and aren't restocking.

BBB isn't even a government bureau, depsite what the name would lead people to believe. They're a private corporation. So, yeah, they have no real power.

Wasn't that also the case with Icons, and what ultimately did them in?

Correct.

Correct.

The BBB is insignificant when it comes to issues like this. It's secondary purpose is to give their opinions about businesses. It's primary purpose is - you guessed it - to collect annual accreditation fees so that businesses can let customers know that the BBB has an opinion of them.

I for one will not officially complain about Anovos (except when I come here...sometimes it feels good to offload...). I'll simply, hopefully collect my pre-ordered items when they come in, and no longer pre-order anything from them. It's as simple as that. No drama, no risk. If in the future they end up having something in stock and ready to ship that I would like to purchase: great! Add to cart, pay, deliver the goods. Nothing more.

It been almost two months since I requested a refund from Anovos. No reply to emails I’ve sent.

I’m taking the issue up with my bank this week.

I’ll post here when I get any traction.
