Another Yoda VD saber

Hi !

This is my first saber, considering how complicated some of the others members projects are here, this will be a really simple build and probably not the more accurate you will see...

But anyway since I'm building it I will document it so at least I can keep track of it.

This is the little guy received yesterday, a bolsey number 2. Wrong end cap but I will order a replica.

A lot of battery leak (I guess) under the hood, it was completly stuck, thank to the mighty WD40 I was able to remove it without damaging it.
The aluminium is a bit corroded but It should polish well.

I sourced the PEM nut and it's on the way, the brass screw is a replica courtesy of Chase Butler (thanks again !). Still need to find the 2-56 screws needed for the build.
I contacted Sjanish for buying a cast of the grips / oil pan and wheel but due to the covid 19 he is not fulfilling any order at the moment, so I went for the 3D printed solution, I will still buy a set once he will start to take order again for a saber#2.

Most of the dimension are from the VD schematic available on the net, the lambo wheel was made with studying pics of it, I'm pretty happy how it turned.
I'm not completly satisfied by my oil pan, I may rework it.

I still need to clean it a bit.

Looking good. I recently bought the Bolsey flash and had a similar issue removing the band and had severe corrosion that could not be polished out. I ended up buying another Bolsey flash that was in much better shape and at a cheaper price to boot. For the oil pan detail on the center band I grabbed one of shapeways along with some grips and the emitter wheel.

I would be interested in where you get a replacement end cap as this is all I need to complete my saber.

Yes I will order it from Dark energy creations, it fit a bolsey without doubt since several build were made using it.

wow didn't even know there was corrosion I never took it out of the box, sorry about that!

For those parts being 3D printed I couldn't even tell they were looking at the pics! What printer did you use?

Chase Butler It's a 50 years old object, no one could have known, it wasn't visible until I removed the shroud. It's parts of the charm of working with old stuff don't worry ;) !

It was printed on one of my Elegoo Mars, great little machine once everything is dialed up.

nice!! I have a Mars and that thing is insane! Do you have any plans to share the files online?

Thank you, it's one of my bookmarked source, but the shipping is 4 times the price of the screw. I'm so jealous of you guys, everything seems easy to get on your side of the border.
