Added all fins today.
What’s left is adding the electronics and then assembling it all together before painting it in spring weather. [emoji36]
Stupid winter.
Had any luck with Filler Primer? I'm considering using that. Im still debating on electronics think I could wire the insides now and plug in electronics later without tearing the pack apart?
Thanks for all the links! I'm gonna wait and see if you list any more parts before buying so I can bundle my shipping! I was able to bundle that shapeways order by the way, thanks for the heads up!
I bought a black gloss primer paint. Not a filler technically.
I have yet to paint anything on the pack, so can’t really vouch for any of the paints I’ve selected.
I may have one or two more parts coming so hang tight.
Electronics: I made the cones detachable and plan to do the same with the top radiator. That way I have access to everything at any point in time for maintenance.
Today I worked on placing and attaching the engines. They are removable so just a test attachment for now and until I paint.
They sit low enough to show some internals. Not too low as that seems inaccurate based on the movie shots I’ve carefully analyzed. This seems correct.
I also worked on the switch plug, and the power switch placement.
While waiting for the paint and some electronics, I spent time putting together the hand held controller for the jetpack. Not screen accurate obviously, but for now I won’t have a gauntlet so this will have to do.
This was inspired by Valor’s awesome build, he gets credit for the idea. I hand stitched mine. Not bad for first time leather craft! I love it.
I was thinking of painting the copper end caps silver, but now I’m debating. It looks cool in Cooper. What do you guys think?
The grills on the model were quite weak, not comfortable with that. I designed and 3D printed a much stronger grill that I will soon insert and blend in and sand... it wasn’t trivial since it needs to have the right curvature as you can see.
