I can't imagine this turning out very well. Not sure why they tried. There is no big fanbase. The pop-culture awareness of it sharply tapered off after the 1980s-90s, and even that era was already 20+ years ago.
The TV show had a certain innocent charm but it does not lend itself to the blockbuster treatment. It succeeded on the strength of the cast, the police's positive image, and stunts/action that looks tame now (but cannot plausibly get much bigger).
I smell one of these travesty-comic remakes. It will consume $70 million dollars, please nobody, and be forgotten before it even hits video.

I heard a rumor that there making a 6 million dollar man, and it will be mark wahlburger's stepping into those shoes. cue slow motion jumping and running sound effect's bbbrrrrraaaannnngggggg! nnaaaannaaaannaaaannaaaaaa!!
If Wahlburg is involved i won't even rent it. I refuse to give that clown any money. You can tell this movie had nobody's faith when original cast members don't even show up for a free paycheck lol. As bad as McHale's Navy was at least they stuck the original in a believable spot in the movie.
