got to be careful when clear coating. always test first. on the left just sprayed as 1 coat on the left 3 small coats built up slowly. these are scrap peaces so not perfect to start.

this video was the first test. for some reason the servo jumps its not in the mech so may have a dogy servo

Very nice video, as for the servo jumping, make sure you have the current setting on your supply high enough for the added load of the wheel/wing mechanism....:)

That's also a fairly long cable you have on the servo, could be a voltage drop, though the "jump" in movement is consistent.

it could be the long cable.
there is no load on the servo as it's sprung to make it neutral loading. on the day there won't be a servo extension
cable but I think I'll swap out that servo anyway

it doesn't show in a phot but this is the closest the the right colour I can find , if I do this again I'll get some cans mixed

Love the vid:cool::cool:(y)(y)Love the wear and tear of the numbers...too "perfect-from-the-factory" look is not into the spirit of a polluted BR World;)...but that's just me. I'll shut-up and sit down now:p

started work on the former for the glazing. I was hoping to get this all finished before I go back to work but I'm avoiding the electronic like my tax's. I've even cleaned the oven.

Great formers...that should go quite smoothly!! I would be careful not to show that Oscar repro on line; bad things happen to people doing so:oops::oops::oops:

Should I only post the photos of the real one's? Babe or Inception? haha I've been on 2 winning teams now.
I should say that the Oscars are really more BS than anything, there voted for by x winners, and there is a lot of snobbiness and bias involved.
they never represent the true state of affairs, or what is really groundbreaking, how do you explain Lucus and Speilburge being snubbed for so long, I vote on the ADG awards and there is no way in hell I could ever see all the submitted projects. that's another thing, Oscar's are submitted projects in other words you put yourself forward and big companies do huge campaigns to make sure they get voted for. Everyone, in the industry, knows this so although they are nice. it's really a bit of fluff. We got an oscar for Babe VFX, nothing was groundbreaking or any different to any other creature effect film, but the voters like the film that year. I have several friends with Oscars, without sounding terrible there not the cleverest of my friends they just happened to work on the movie that everyone who votes like that year, out of the few movies they actually watched. don't tell anyone but one year I voted for a movie that I hadn't even seen because a friend of mine worked on it, just because I hadn't watched any of the films in that category. so it really is BS.

ha another funny story We got a Bafta for VFX on Teenage mutant ninja turtals ( for the control system ) Arther would polish it every week so it shined when people came in the building one day it went from gold to silver. he had polished through the thin plated layer oops.

I suppose the movie industry is business where the “ bottom dollar” is what matters most. It’s cynical. But then that’s true of most commercial business. The Oscars are probably no more important that best estate agent of the year or car sales person of the year. It’s just PR. I used to see that in the Architectural industry as well where the big names ruled the end of year awards. They were important because they would guarantee big commissions to the big practices. A lot of great work by very talented, hard working, underpaid people gets ignored.

If the RPF we’re awarding Oscars for outstanding builds, you’d have my nomination for this project.

So there was no way I was actually going to get it finished in 3 days. I'm no electrician and I've been dragging my feet on cutting wires. So as the printer where not doing anything and I'd like to start with something easier lighting wise I made this little guy to go with the parking meter.
On another note, I've been looking at the film to work out the timing of the flashing lights on top and bottom of the spinner only to come to the conclusion that they must have let each light flash at its own rate as there is no set sequence. it's different in each shot. So I'm just going to make a sequence up that I like and got with that.

Also I'm looking forward to aging this guy as the spinner is so clean.
