I was inspired by Torsoboy's build of the Nuka-Cola Blaster and wanted one of my own. But since I lack his skills with a lathe (and I also lack a lathe), I had to go the 3D modeling and printing route.

The paint job looked gorgeous... until I misremembered the can as saying to wait 24 hours before putting on a top coat. Nope. It actually said 48 hours. Had to strip it all off and start again.


Well, that hasn't turned out too badly so far. But now for the part I was most afraid of: painting the logo.

Yep, freehand painting is definitely not my thing. Guess I'll make a Version 2 of the model, tweaking a few things I didn't like (such as making the silver bit on the end a separate piece because masking it off was a royal pain) and modeling the logo into the oval for ease of painting.
But that's Version 1, at least.
